Slavery existed for most of the entirety of human civilization. It was seen as normal, in many countries particular religions and beliefs still justify slavery. Only one empire worked to eliminate slavery at great cost. Under the tenets that underpin the morality of Christianity specifically, and under the Magna Carta, the British Empire and its colonies worked to eliminate slavery from society, something that had never been attempted or accomplished before, at great personal cost. Slavery, and the current revulsion towards it, would never have been eliminated if it weren't for British Colonialism and the spread of Christian morality. It is not at all surprising for people who don't value Christianity and British Empire to not have the same revulsion towards slavery, or even forced/indentured servitude. Merry Christmas!
Slavery was never eliminated. It's still an ongoing thing even now. Also, rich bringing up "Christian morality" when there are very specific guidelines how to beat up your slaves in that book.

Yes those guidelines are from the Old Testament to be sure. But despite what the Christian bible says, people interpreted the words particularly from the New Testament to mean that Slavery is wrong, and tthose people were from Christian western countries.

I'd argue that slavery was defacto eliminated within the British Commonwealth. But yes, it still exists, primarily in Islamic countries.

Why does it matter if it was from the Old Testament or New, when Jesus himself said that everything in it still stands? People can't even follow one of the most important figure in their religion. 🤷‍♂️

Slavery was removed in a lot of counties mostly from people's empathy, regardless of religion.

I guess as opposed to Africans enslaving other Africans that's ongoing today?
unironically yes, countless africans dumped into the sea because they were that cheap, worked to death because it's cheaper to buy new slave than to take care of one. and the worst part is they dont feel guilty because of underlaying racism and hatred taught in the bible as the curse of Ham.

also the enslavement of todays africa are backed by western companies anyway, any african leader who wants to change it are overthrown, same thing happen in south america, like banana republic.
