"Ok who want to sit with the ancient beings who are probably old enough to witness the birth of your nation?"
instant dip by the others

Also, the princess's name is Yuuri, not Yuuki
Wait... Isn't the daughter's name supposed to be YUURI? If so, then... A typo here (until they fix it, of course)
Or am thinking of someone else? Hmm... :thonk:

Don't bother complaining, LHT goes through translators like water through a strainer, and none of them check on previous chapters to confirm names in use. Also LHT doesn't check the comments here, you have to go to their site and point it out.

Decided to watch the anime before reading this chapter.
It was alright. The pregnant wife death flag vibe was too strong for no reason tho

I wonder how well sumo would work with centaurs, problem is the risk of breaking a leg and then you need to shoot them.

I was going to joke I've seen videos like that before but you beat me to it, that being said baby oil>mud
The only baby oil in the village is gonna be Hiraku's own juices, and sadly...not even his infinite stamina can produce enough to plow every field in need there :meguusmug:

This is SoL in its purest form.
Absolutely NOTHING happens and when something does happen it's relatively small.
Except good slice of life uses ordinary occurrences as the scaffold for exploring the personalities of characters and the interesting interactions between them. The way they talk to each other, the way they look at each other, the value they find in their day to day lives.

This story has none of that. Why have meaningful glances when you can just line up 3 to 10 characters in a panel with the same blank expression so it's easy to draw? Why have dialogue when you can just narrate what they supposedly talked about? (Note this chapter did not have a single dialogue bubble.) Why have personalities when you can have...uh...quantity, I guess? Why have any depth at all when you can just have stakeless tournaments? In this chapter, we got an answer to the question "how do you draw out a tournament arc even further?" and the answer is "with additional tournaments".

At this point I read this mostly as a case study of just how bad and effortless writing can be.

I know slice of life manga don't need to have constant story progression (or frankly anything interesting happenning), but come on, how many times are we gonna have a festival/tournament arc???
honestly, same. i can't speak for others here, but to clarify it's not like i want world-ending stakes for anything (or even just combat with regular life-or-death stakes), but the utter lack of any conflict is... eh. life is interesting because it's always throwing new bullshit your way, even when you have cheat powers, and that's what makes a slice-of-life series with superpowers interesting, imo. i do understand the appeal of wanting characters you like to just be happy, sure, but even just the "oh shit we have new villagers coming & need to figure out where to put them and how to set things up & make them not have heart attacks seeing all the monsters and (etc, etc.)" is enough to make the series interesting. like, "oh, a chapter about figuring out the logistics of rerouting a river for public water infrastructure? aw hell yeah brother, that's a thing!"-- the characters are working together to solve a problem, and even though i know things will be fine regardless, it helps me give a shit, you know? knowing that nothing bad will happen to a character doesn't necessarily dull my ability to care about them, but at this point these characters may as well be in stasis for how little is happening and that does dull my ability to care... the little gags like lamia/harpy sumo are nice, but the actual fights that these tournaments revolve around do nothing for me, man. nobody is gonna get hurt, winning/losing isn't gonna change their life circumstances in any way, and even if they cause/resolve any sort of inter-personal conflict, it wouldn't amount to anything more than a single line like "it seems like they're getting along [better/worse] now" before moving on... idk, it's just dull. give me more chapters about how you'll divvy up agricultural duties among the villages or something, author, i don't care what you do as long as it's not yet another tournament lol
