This wording is partly baggage of a trend in how Chinese novels handle isekai and any parallel worlds. A book world is often treated like a stable pocket dimension inside a magic scroll with unclear boundaries, but the rules mimicking reality. It's convenient since it dodges claims about what the real world should be, but I think it's from oldschool fantasy and not censorship worry. I don't think that's the worldbuilding this time, just the common terms Yvonne used.

It's more obvious in the 'rapid transmigration' genre, and partly why that genre sucks. Basically everyone is "paper people" who exists for power fantasy, like NPCs on rails, and paper people may not strictly be conscious which contributes to justifying brutality.

But some works use it in interesting ways and make it a simulation hypothesis mindgame where admins are from a higher layer of existence with their own problems only made worse by host lesbians possibly crashing the entire layer of existence by being uncompromisingly gay.

I read this chapter, and I cried really bad for hours. Twas a beautiful chapter for me because 10 months ago I ended a relationship with my ex fiancée who I had been with for 7 years, and known for 10, and seeing "Haven't we pledged to always be together? You don't get to break this promise by yourself" killed me. Thank you for the chapter, even if it brought it an unholy amount of tears.
