in ch.9 he left one next to a tree, so it's more probable that the bandits were talking near the tree, remember that they were gonna talk with the bandits infiltrated in the village if they were gonna attack in the end, so that's what was probably happening when the MC started to hear in the walkie talkie.

I prefer to bet on that, that a bandit took it without showing when it happened, well maybe MC had Nike take one of the walkie talkies (he could have made more) near the base or in other places to get more info. (ch.9 could have been used more to show us he can do it rather than being that walkie talkie there the main point).

Just FYI: in English, you do not "bunker down;" instead, when one os ducking, while inside of a bunker, or when one forms a bunker....
They "hunker down."

And since English is a very goofy language, I thought I'd let you know that you hunker down when forming an impromptu bunker.
