She's pretty fired up and ready to get bloody.

Just jumps into it. Just like the real one.

"Do you really think that I, Mr. Big Name, would lose to a mere impostor of the Reaper?"
Yes. Yes I do.

She can talk the talk, but now she has to walk the walk.

Him being that mad could be an advantage for her.

A rare case of someone saying they have an opening, and then actually getting that opening.

Is he really going to try and pull the "Women are weaker then men" card after Olivia has been slaughtering their troops ever since she enlisted?
It wouldn't be a Japanese manga without pretty on the nose sexism.
I mean, he did say her swordmanship was decent, and women normally are weaker than men. As far as sexism goes, that's reasonably factual. Where he's wrong is that swords are some of the weapons where strength matters the least. Even less for spears and many other polearms, but just about all other weapons benefit more from higher strength.

And Olivia is basically not human, so she can't be used a gender representative.

Okay, I got an order of karmic payback for the misogynistic prick. Would you like a sword through your back, or decapitation? Major Olivia will be content delivering either.

I love the rank and file Lady rising to the challenge and taking on this man. Go her!

Well that general is going to see what the women do not rely purely on strength in swordfights. they tend to be faster instead.

Speed comes from strength. The stronger you are, the lighter the sword feels, and the faster you can redirect and swing it. That's where the main advantage of being stronger in a swordfight comes into play. Generally speaking, there is no "strength vs speed" trade-off.

But it only goes so far. As I said before, swords aren't particularly strength-dependent. They're agile, finesse weapons, and anyone who relies only on strength will be a poor fencer.

All in all, swords are great weapons for people who're not that strong. Especially long swords, since they're two-handed but not as massive as great swords. But the stereotypical finesse sword, the rapier, requires some of the highest strengths among swords, since they're actually pretty large, both long and in the upper weight class for swords.
