"For old times sake" doesn't mean they had sex or an romantic relationship before, it just means "because of our past together" despite how things ended it's obvious they were close and if you look VERY carefully, actually not that carefully it's pretty damn obvious seeing the "10+ years together" part, he was well in his teens when he finally managed to get a blow on her. I'm not exactly young but I still remember when I took an interest in the opposite sex, and that wasn't long after my age turned double digits much less by the time I was old enough to be in high school. Well....late bloomers are a thing though.

Keeping it a secret from them is not good maybe at the start keep it to himself but then he should have told them just like they have told him all about them. Isekai protags do this a lot though
