Actually true.

I see this a lot in other series as well, being engaged with the anime/manga community since the 2000s. People usually say they don't like self-inserts but they actually do it themselves a lot.

Kinda not related but I feel the same way about shipping wars too. People ship the girl they personally like, not the girl the main character likes.

Dang dude, this chapter is done WELL. I can totally relate to what Tohno is feeling... his past promise vs his hope that Houjou is not like that. But now that it's come to a head, what does he do? Does he explain his reasoning to Houjou? Tell her he's concerned that she might only be interested in his brother? If he's wrong, he could ruin things with Houjou by doubting her. But if he's right, this could be the end of the relationship they have thus far. Perhaps by avoiding the issue, the current relationship can be prolonged. Dealing with these things is scary.
