I guess this kind of lines up with what Kato was saying when he met w/ the low level NIN in Suzuki's studio? But now I'm more confused about what Kato/Sasama are after. Or why Robo-Kumogakure was being pissy (heh) to Kato when he was on the going to be executed on the Elderly show.

This dude being Koji Kashin was so obvious/telegraphed that I still think he's a red herring. I'm not abandoning my "hidden apartment resident" theory just yet in a series as wildly twisty as this one. Dude could be a body double or some kind of shadow clone jutsu or some shit.

I mean the Sci-Fi in this series is so fantastical that anything seemingly too supernatural would likely be handwaved away as more ninja jutsu/technology nonsense. Don't forget we're talking about a story where human minds have been transplanted into cats.

Basically, think Godfather of all Ninja in this universe. Defacto leader of NIN if I remember right. He's based on a mythical character in Japanese folklore and shows up in other media including Naruto. Fun fact, one of his alternate names is Shippo Gyoja, and I'm fairly certain that also makes him the inspiration for the fox demon in Inuyasha.

I think Oono is bait, not Kashin Koji. Pretty sure Oono & Kawado are guards. I swear somewhere back in the earlier days of the series, might have been Kuro talking to somebody about KK. Something about KK, the Kumogakure Clan, and 2 other "guards" or special NIN that were with KK or something. Need to go back and reread some parts I guess. My money is still on, the still pretty much unseen landlord. Definitely could be wrong. But to me, in this series, it just doesn't really fit the narrative or style of storytelling to have something so important spelled right out and played so "on the nose."

I still don't believe for a second that he is the only Kashin Koji. Considering what happened to Kato and how extensive the genjutsu is, I'm sure it's far more than just one person; maybe something like Snowcrash is going on here. The revelation about Koji's involvement in previous global upheavals is quite heavy.
