I'm definitely one for Esther more, but it's still painful to see what feels like an 'ultimatum' situation like this.
Was frustrating seeing games being played between both groupings in different ways, but this is rough.
Feels like a situation where both girls are gonna end up hurt in some way.

Thanks for the chapter! So hard finding good romance with good drama these days and this series has been great so far!

I think she just sees Max as a good friend, she's vulnerable etc, but I can't see a really romantic feeling between them. But Max should definetly come clear with Joy about this, and specially about Esther ex-boyfriend situation.

But yada yada we need drama to move the plot so that's ok

I think their interactions so far have intentionally shown her becoming romantically interested in him. From blushing, being flustered, and saying ambiguous things that clearly point towards developing romantic attraction.

They have really good chemistry, like best friends yeah, but to not notice the bittersweet atmosphere Esther is currently radiating from being conflicted about helping Max but also liking Max herself...
I feel like it's obvious enough that not noticing must be either really wishful thinking (for a Joy-shipper) or intentionally ignoring it.

The problem about 'coming clean' about Esther's ex situation is that it isn't Max's situation to come clean about. It's a deeply personal thing for Esther and it should only be shared at her discretion.

I usually hate when a second love interest is introduced in stories, but Max and Joy's chemistry was so lacking that I was about to drop this before Esther and Max's relationship started being explored.

Unfortunately the way it's been set up, feel like there's no way it's ending with Max and Joy in a relationship.
