Some people be straight up making up a whole imaginary enemy of "defenders of slavery"

Literally who are you fighting
The normalfag mind cannot comprehend that reality =/= fiction. Clearly icky evil topics should never be shown, discussed, or explored in fiction ever, and if you do you're clearly an edgy teen in support of it and would do those things if you had the chance.

It's not even taken that seriously by the mangaka. It's a backdrop topic to show how these two characters clash over even the dumbest shit. His over the top reaction is taken as a joke and it's explicitly pointed out he's only buttmad about it because it's Allen who said it. He lives in his head rent free, much like the slavery boogeyman of some ITT.

IDK if its just my stupidity but I felt really confused for a solid moment with wtf Weiss was even talking about. IDK maybe it was the way it was shown or smthn, the whole conflict with allen from last chapter that leads into this one turns out to be about slavery? Okay, interesting I guess? maybe it could've been conveyed more clearly but then again my brain is about as smooth as a fucking polished rock so who knows
maybe it's really like Milk sensei said, "just because it's Allen"
but yeah, still not sure

Ideologues are people who cause far more trouble then anything else. Allen is the kind of person who would leave the world in complete chaos just to impose his ideals. He's literally the type of person Mark Twain warned about.

People who think with emotions instead of using logic and thinking if what they want can actually work, the cost, consequences, etc. Etc.

Slavery is in many instances not great, but in other times it is necessary. Sometimes people are the only resource one can offer and thus it's either that or starve. That or crime, prostitution, etc etc. Life isn't fair and you can't make it fair because people aren't equal. Allen himself is way above the average person and couldn't hope to achieve what he has obtained so far.

that's quite literally the entire point.

The entire chapter is to showcase how the "Original Weiss" is still influencing the MC's behavior, particularly when it comes to Allen, the "Original Protagonist/Hero". They clash over everything, and Weiss, being a villainous/amoral noble character, would take the "it's a necessary evil" stance on something like institutional slavery while Allen, the heroic orphan commoner, would butt heads with him over that.

It's also why Milk just falls asleep in the middle of Weiss' tirade. Because it's an indicator that, as readers, we're not meant to take the content of Weiss' problems and the topic of discussion seriously, because that's merely the vehicle and pretext to show the MC's growing dissonance with his in-story incarnation, the growing tension between himself and the story's hero, and thus underpin just how dangerous things remain for him if he doesn't get his shit together and keep his eye on the prize (to wit, preventing/escaping his many, many Death Flags).

Cmon yall. We all know that slavery in manga is popular because they need heroine/waifus thats faithful to the protagonist. And we all know when author use this, its trash writing because the characters became lifeless. Slavery is just an animu body pillow in manga. Meaning i dont think the japs care much about slavery. they care more about hentais.

You keyboard warriors seem to forget that there's a supernatural hate for Allen that just about takes control of MC anytime anything regarding Allen pops up.

Tell me why the guy who has the biggest possible hateboner-for-allen spirit haunting him would ever offer any kind of response that isn't condescending and brutally spirit crushing to Allen. 'Slavery bad cuz bad, get rid of it' was the perfect ammunition for Weiss to just piss him right off.

obtuse moron got to stick together right?
I can certainly see that with yall going out of your way to so aggressively defend the obviously bad thing 🤣 (And dislike bomb everyone who says otherwise)

God I wish I could see behind the screen the greasy weirdos who actually agree with the nonsense you're putting out there.

"it is bad but what can we do?" is a bit different from "it isn't necessarily bad" to me

this seems like "if you are born poor it is better for you to be slave, else you would become criminal anyway"

Allen is right to be pissed off tbh, Weiss is in the position to profit from slavery, while Allen is the one who could have been sold into it. Basically got called "you should have been a slave" to lol.

it is not smart dispaying it in a room full of nobles though.
I wonder if you remember what happens anytime MC and Allen meet, its kinda a big part of the story. Weiss has no incentive at all to be nice to Allen, and seems to get almost raving mad anytime he even speaks, so to me he's just reacting to the hate from the OG personality. I'm beginning to think he's gonna take any opportunity he has to antagonize Allen.

These two are literally oil and water. They'll never get along, it seems like they just exist to piss each other off.

Every time a manga introduces slavery into its plot, or even mentions it, the comments section goes wild xD.

Let's not forget that slavery has reached alarming levels worldwide. There are more slaves TODAY than at the height of the transatlantic slave trade.

Slavery takes many forms. How do you describe a job you can't leave because you can't afford it? A job that's slowly killing you, but you know that if you quit, you'll starve to death in a week?

Stop shouting that "slavery" is wrong; we know it, everyone knows it.

To live in a world without slavery, it would require a lot of bloodshed, a lot of corrupt politicians' heads rolling, and probably a profound reform of human nature (yes, we're falling back into communism… where EVERYONE is a SLAVE).

That's the paradox of utopia: you start to solve a problem, and the solution becomes even worse. (I'm still in favor of beheading corrupt politicians to restore balance ^^)

Slavery cannot be eradicated; it can only be counterbalanced.

Those who promise magic solutions will always disappear in the end of the show.

This is why its so wild to me that people are on Weiss' side on this lmao. He's literally primed for a character arc to realize "Oh, maybe slavery IS bad" (Or wrestle away evil Weiss' influence if that theory is correct)

But instead you have people doing Olympic gold medallist gymnastics to be like "No no, evil Weiss is right. Slavery is good. Look at the historical context and you'll see that its better for everyone if some people are slaves for life. Human rights are made up"

Like bro...some of these commenters are really self reporting.

That said, I find their conflict interesting. Not like I have to agree with my GOAT Weiss. I'm definitely rooting for Allen to clutch up and knock some sense into him though.
idiots defending saudi arabia is peak monkeyducks behavior

and change it with modern day slavery by underpaid, no insurance, unfair contract etc. why dont you go to third world countries or like India, Pakistan, Indonesia where so many worker being exploit and living worse than slave as they are homeless and not even afford food and resorting committing crime.

war didn't happen, just crime rate goes sky high only. being rob and murder because they too poor is nothing right? at least you have freedom to live crime filled society and get to experience being rob, murder, beaten up and raped as free man. like there is no people that choose to commit crime and sent to prison just to have roof to sleep, food to eat. hummmmm...

prisoner also did job for mostly free too. that slavery right? or not? no freedom, given food, shelter, restricted freedom and must follow warder order or get hit or punished. do community work/ laborfor free too. heeeyyyy. prison is slavery. we must abolish prison.
Skill issue, personally i just wouldnt build my country on such a flawed and unsustainable system to begin with but i guess everyone cant be as perfect me umu

Commenters trying even harder then MC to justify slavery lol

MC who is mentally a grown ass man from the modern world and comes from a place of privilege is beefing with a actual orphan child bc said child said slavery. MC also gave no other response to slavery besides "poor ppl dont deserve anything" propaganda.

also all of you are downplaying how bad slavery actually is\was.

yeah that valid, but we all have to agree with weiss here, that said shit like that inside a noble school is just sucidal.
depend on circumstance, Allen action of speak his piece just going to get him gun down when noble pull out other kind of "piece".
I'm also surprised Allan didn't get hanged for saying such a thing in front of nobles :worry: , because those in upper power systems like the royal family, nobles, etc., benefit so much from doing the very bare minimum.

I'm worried for Cartha. :fml:
