Either author-san's lost track at some point, or these folks consider only immediate family to be blood relatives.

Yeah it's confusing. They also seem to use "cousin/nephew" as an overarching term for the children of old friends/distant relatives as well as immediate family. Oh well, not that I really care, tbh
