Excellent question. It'd be nice if I could sort out my library and md lists by tags to see what genre is the most represented in what I like, etc., to answer your question more easily...don't burn me

Since @BakedBanana stole my usual question...
If you could redirect the time/energy/money spent creating slop isekai into another genre of manga/anime, which one would you choose? Any under-appreciated works in that genre that would be at the top of your list for an anime adaptation?
Originally, I wanted to say I'd like to use the slop isekai resources on creating actual good isekai, because I felt like there weren't many in that category. So I did some stats to see if my opinion was baseless or not, and it seems I was kinda right.
There are two isekai in my completed 10s out of 23 titles. And the two of them are only here because they got cancelled
It's these two.
Comparing isekai with other genres, there are 15 romance, 16 drama, 9 comedy, and 6 martial arts titles.
In my reading 10s, I have ten isekai out of 45 titles. 14 romance tags, 25 drama tags, 25 comedy tags, and 8 martial arts tags (I'm pretty sure some other titles would deserve it too.) I suspect people just put the trio (romance/drama/comedy) or two of them when one could only suffice, but oh well. Let's not even mention the tragedy tag...
I won't do statistics for the ratings below 10, unfortunately, because it's too much of a hassle.

So yeah, the energy would still be spent on the same genre, and it doesn't really answer your question correctly, but still, that's my answer.
For an underappreciated work in that genre, I thought of Kindan Shitei de Breakthrough ~Boy Meets Satan~ (I rated it 9/10 when it reached the end/got cancelled,) which actually isn't an isekai, isn't underrated, and has already been animated.
That shows how little I care about anime in general, haha. I have watched some and enjoyed it, but nowadays I just don't watch any (because I don't like it.)
I guess that settles it.
Thank you for your interesting questions.
