There was a similar plot thread in the recent show Mighty Nein. What happens if your race can reincarnate over and over indefinitely, and all the memories of your past lives start to bleed together? The answer is also basically dementia.

Okay, theory time: Mama Torea was Isekai'd. But, a human mind was not meant to last in a High Elf body. She's experiencing some form of Dementia that means that she's not able to remember things other high elves could. That's also why she recognizes the 'Foreign objects'...because they're things from her old life.
