Dunno if he'd die that easily but "protag killed, switch to new protag/arc" wouldn't be unfitting for this kinda story i suppose
imagine the cliche plot twist of "lowell IS his father" (then again ppl know lowell's voice so unless his power changes it no way he wouldn't recognize it)

this answer what happen to MC friend in early chapter before returning as "B" citizen with different personality. he get mind break reconfiguration treatment
i dont think that cliche will work here. MC and his mother lives were as normal as it can be for the father to be the mastermind. the timeline also dont fit, since his father is caught by the police after the law reformed not before (while his mother taken very recently), nor he still existing now but hide his job/identity.
