yeah enacting torture is totally okay lol
Its not, but she didn't start smashing furniture or his electronics, being absolute hysterical with screaming and yelling, take the children and leave immediately, dump all his stuff outside, spray paint "cheater" on buildings/vehicles, slam him on social media or any other things I've seen with people confronting cheating. Plus we know she is a absolute freak already but she didn't act like she was perfect right to do so when she learned she was wrong, and apologized.

Yeah the bar is hella low, but I'll take light torture and an apology over other reactions.

any1 got the japanese cliffnotes on this one? clearly the joke is not translating
Really? All-nighter is when you work all night. Sister thought one-night stand was the same thing and reported that to her mom. But a one-night stand is when you have sleep with someone (sexually) but just the one time, it's not a relationship. Which is fine, but not if you're married.
Or are you saying that this isn't what the original joke was for some reason?

The english is obvious. I said it’s not translating because any english speaker would never call an all-nighter a “one-night stand”. It just makes no sense in english. Figured a specific word substitution was going on by Mitaka, it’s really just this?

As the previous commentator said, joke is Mitaka, in an attempt to sound cooler, mixed up all-nighter and one-night stand.

In the raws, Rentarou (the dad) said it was a "一徹夜" (Ichi tetsuya, TL: one all-nighter). Mitaka, wanting to spruce up the wording with English words, used "ワンナイト" (Literally one night, but in Katakana). She wanted to sound quirky and cool (hence the line "Isn't there a better way to say it? Something more emotional or nonchalant". and "but thats lame, one night stand sounds way cooler".) However, ワンナイト in Japanese means one-night stand. It is a tiny bit more forgivable in the japanese since there isn't the "stand" part (all nighter = one night), but I thought the joke translated quite well. It was to show Mitaka's stupidity/naivety by making up some wannabe cool sound term just to end up accusing her father of cheating. I couldn't just use "One night" because then it makes even less sense in English. Why would anyone think one night = cheating? Plus one-night stand is the accurate translation of the term.

Also, this may be a strech but one night stand could be sorta interpeted as a all nighter if you think really stupid and ignore it's actual meaning. It's like you are making a stand against something on that one night, your "one night stand"
