I think their proportions got out of whack
It's a classic trope in manga about the pervyness of random men in Japanese society and the need to protect women from them. It's also unfortunately somewhat a reflection of reality, given the history of why phone cameras have forced shutter noises and women only train carriages etcI really hate how Akanabe ultimately has to hide her body. Doesn't matter if it's hot, doesn't matter if you don't want to fold your arms a certain way, gotta cover up, because it's been dangerous lately. Idk if this is referencing something that was established in an earlier chapter or is just some excuse Kouki made up, but the solution being that Akanabe needs to cover up is just so depressing.
Like, I get that the chapter is supposed to be cutesy/relatable because Kouki is trying to protect Akanabe from some non-existing threat and failing at it, but I can't help but be distracted by the anti-body message that is ultimately furthered.
Yeah, this ruined the chapter for me. It's one thing to be realistic about the dangers random men can pose, but it's another thing entirely to tell someone to cross their arms so others can't see their wet clothes.I really hate how Akanabe ultimately has to hide her body. I don't hate it at all, it's very natural from a male perspective.I really hate how Akanabe ultimately has to hide her body. He tried his best ...let's give credit for that
That's not natural at all. That's called being insecure. What happens if she wants to go to the beach? Will he make her wear a long sleeve shirt to cover as well? Dude needs to realize that she's with him because she wants to be with him and no one else. Eventually that insecurity will lead to controlling. As I stated before she got by before him and she can get by with him. Does he think that men hasn't looked at her before they started dating? Being exclusive means that you don't date other partners it doesn't mean that you control what your partner wears. That's just ridiculous and suffocating.I don't hate it at all, it's very natural from a male perspective.
I can't imagine any bloke being okay with knowing others are ogling their partner.
It's not about insecurity either, it's about exclusivity and thus by extension intimacy.
It isn't anti-body, it's pro-body but only for one another to see.
For such makes things more special.![]()
It's a cultural (and real) thing in Japan. Women can't show off their body like they would do in North America, Europe or Latin America, for example. It's not seen as a good thing by the Japanese society.I really hate how Akanabe ultimately has to hide her body.
