That's enough for a ban, a couple of years ago or so there was a user that got banned for being a tad racist and saying homosexuality was a mental illness. As a matter fact, they logged in here to complain about the fact they were banned on MangaDex's Discord for the same things and... didn't end well for them. I managed to find it: https://forums.mangadex.org/threads/banned-from-discord.1791202/
honestly why do people have to be like that? like, i understand being a bit misinformed abt certain groups, but at least you can become more informed. these types of people more often than not don't change, though...

Honestly, it's probably due to the fear of change and the echo chamber of similar beliefs made by social media sites. That's all I'm going to say about this topic, though

Regrettably it's not something that has been happening for a decade or two, it's not even Internet originated. In the last century, with the lack of foreign enemies, countries all around the world had to (progressively) create imaginary enemies which were already inside the society: immigrants, non-heterosexuals, women and/or certain population groups. Of course, it started in already stabilised countries (with descolonisation it became worldwide-like) and nowadays keeps being of use for the same reasons. Doing it on the Internet is essentially free of guilt/responsability, and seeing others do it makes them more insensitive, just like IRL bullying. And since this is one of the dominant ideas, some sentences are repeated like a dogma "that makes you gay / at least I'm not gay / keep your distance gay / etc.". If repeated as an adult, they become part of you, so it's really hard to expect tolerance from this kind of "grown-ups".
