The whole pretending to be a boy was already out from the start, one of the princes is those 'I can tell you're a girl by your skeleton shape' type

But her using magic still got their attention, so the part of making contact with Lavarl royal actually got fast tracked in that sense.

As for why the lion is 'humanified'....because it's not a normal animal.

I wish they followed the novel, honestly the novel is much better 😕 it explains more clearly and alot of things were changed. But it's still a little cute i guess.
