Wait, if we started out with him at 78 why couldn’t he have been building up his skill points and investing in good skills till this point? Am I missing something like he had to select specific ones because of his role in the party or the growth rate was much slower or something?
now that you mention it, yeah that does sound weird, his level is too high for what's happening but meh, i can ignore that
also there are a lot of repeated pages at the beginning

I believe this guys is simply an idiot. At the start of part 1.1 he shot one arrow and stood there doing nothing (not even trying to dodge attacks!) and even here in the battle against the orc until he discovers he can auto-target behind doors, is an embarassing spectacle of incompetence.
He probably reached level 78 through getting carried by other proper human beings, including the newbies he escorted, and he's too slow to realize he can stop being stupid with a little effort.

Normally I'd assume she'll just be an addition to the harem, but the way she's introduced is sus..

I am confused as well, maybe I'm missing something, but in ch 1.1 on page 14 at the very bottom, he talks about his unique skill I believe, and he says that "the variety of stats and skill required to master it is insane".
Does that mean he had to level up a bunch of other skills in order to get his unique skill ? I'm not sure anymore. Maybe next chapters will give more explanation, but right now it doesn't make much sense.

I hope this is a series where he grows and develops as a character instead of just being OP-guy-#12480879, because he's only really shown his own inability to think for himself, and now he's been rewarded with a skill that lets him think even less. So far, a lot of his problems are just experience and practice based, and his base skill doesn't seem that bad if it's essentially a self-generating arrow that can't be stopped by obstacles and hypothetically armor, and not just the summonable projectile it first seemed to be.

Maybe they can retcon/characterize him as a thoughtless skill junkie who until this point has just picked up whatever skills he wanted without thinking of the pros and cons, but otherwise he just seems careless, thoughtless even, that he has had 78 level ups, countless chances to look at his build and acquire new skills to make up for his shortcomings, and is still so limited, inept even. I have nothing against underdogs, against characters taking advantage of new opportunities to grow, but usually it's more palatable because the big power-up is given to someone who has been grinding away with an unbeatable amount of effort and are finally being rewarded for it, but it just feels like he's been stumbling past every chance at meaningful growth and somehow wound up tripping into power anyway.

This is actually a fairly reasonable/realistic situation where someone discovers an exploit for their skill.
So often, in similar stories, the person just use their skill fairly regularly, and other adventurers act as if that is some big creative discovery.

I don't know the exact rate of point accusation or and cost of everything, but can make some guesses based on checking the WN.

His skills at the start were Magic Arrow at level 9, Archery at level 5 (which he claimed was necessary to use a bow effectively), a sight/eye skill at level 2 (I assume for scouting) and a storage box skill at level 1, with just enough points (50) from that level up to bring the Arrow skill to level 10.

It could be that the rate of point accusation varies, but from the WN based on the costs for the skills he just gained and points before the purchase it looks like a gain from 5 points per level and it is 10 points to get the skill at level 1 and increasing costs the new level * 5 points. So total cost per skill is (1+ (Level*(Level+1))/2)*5.
But that math only works if he still had to pay 10 points for level 1 of his unique skill. Level 10 cost 56 levels of points, the level 5 cost 16 levels level 2 costs 4 levels and level 1 costs 2 levels, totaling 78.

Basically leveling is progressively more expensive, and high level skills cost a lot.
honeypot moment
feds or cartel, any bets?
dumb kid doing dumb kid things.
Kid is not one of the 4 girls on the color pages of ch 1.1.
