The magical girl twist is different (there are probably other mangas like this) but I'm betting she meets a loli; vampire lord, ancient dragon, angel, demon "king", and for good measure, saves a slave to join her party.

Thank you for the translation. It would be cool if she could learn this world’s magic and just form out due to her absurd amount of mana

I wonder if there the other magic girls have decided that the demons are "peoples with smiles to protect". Maybe some kind of trope where demons are actually misunderstood and they are fighting a pointless war.

From what we saw of the "hero" and his party, the kingdom is the monster stealing people's smiles. It seems like in general the magical girl will need to decide whose smile is worth protecting but at this point, the Kingdom and those supporting the hero definitely don't seem to be in that group.

So the Demonkin is basically a Magical Girl that got isekai'ed a long time ago?

Or the Magical Girl in our era originated from some Demonkin that got reverse isekai'ed to our world.

Or there's some Magical Girl who fight for the Demon, for whatever reason they have (maybe the Demon is actually just misunderstood, etc).

No, it sounds like the Kingdom leadership disapproves of the hero's actions here. They're the ones telling the Hero to stop, that they actually want to talk to this girl instead of just throwing hands from the start. It's at least enough that a blanket categorization isn't appropriate.

It should also be noted that there were visibly soldiers in armor trying to protect Emi's town in chapter 1, and whatever the monster in chapter 2 was (I don't think it was ever referred to as a "demonkin" so we don't really know what those are yet) is an actual problem. The authorities are actually protecting people (at least some of them are), and there is genuinely something to protect those people from.

Governing bodies are rarely fully monolithic. They are made up of lots of people who have their own take on things. I expect there are going to be some factions that are extremists (like the Hero) and some that are more deliberate in how they approach things.

Oversight or supporting someone is never fully going to predict everything they do, it's also important to gauge what the response is after actions are taken. And those responses have more variety than the two extremes of "fully on board" and "get rid of them entirely".

Something tells me that using an innocent girl from the sticks as a human shield and then killing the said girl just to get what he wants screams villain behavior to me.

He harmed Emy not only to agitate Haruna but as he stated she has the same trace of mana as Haruna because Haruna just applied the "Illusion" magic on her. Making him thinking that she is also a magical girl.

I guess that explains why everyone is so hostile to her. To them, magical girls are basically synonymous with pure evil. She has a lot of reputation fixing to do.

Also, the difference between these two worlds are interesting. They both seem to share mana as a concept. However, in this world mana isn't uncommon, but they seem to need to train extensively to use magic. On the other hand, mana doesn't seem to be the norm in the magical girl world, but as long as a magical girl has their transformation item, they can spam magical attacks off feelings alone.

Imagine if the real magical girl is dead, and this mc? is actually a demon or cosmic being possessing her body trying to fulfilled her last wish.
