They're both linked to what he wants as a character, but in the opposite directions.

Kaera is the extrovert he wants to be.
He looks up to her and gets positive feedback from being extroverted with her.
She has what he's missing and I think that's why he's attracted to her.

Utami is the introvert he used to be (and still is — he's just currently 'faking it till he makes it').
He's said many times how he sees himself in her and that he can relate.
I think having those similarities and relatability is kind of comforting to him, and considering I've seen a bit of narcissism in him, I don't think it'd be a long shot to say that's why he could potentially end up being attracted to her (though he isn't now).
Also, her being quite similar to him could just be comforting for him, especially if he stops being so insistent on changing and being an extrovert.

Personally, my favourite choice for him would be Utami, since I think they've got way more intuitive understanding of each other and high chemistry, but so far it seems like she's the one he's least interested in/least taken notice of as a love interest/object of affection.
