@gimme_yuri_plz Well first off is she is beautiful. The art is truly mind-blowing. I do not say this lightly. The character art and backgrounds, even the color pages are all perfectly realized. The artist managed to make the character designs consistent and recognizable across time skips. Familial resemblances are also preserved without impacting individuality or resorting to cliche tells like hair color. The story is perfectly paced and highly organized with no inconsistencies in spite of the dizzying web of plot twists and deceit. The manga easily juggles multiple perspectives and parallel plot-lines without feeling muddy. Most importantly, the manga does not drop the ball on the yuri. It's especially nice to see a mystery/sci-fi/dystopian yuri manga, not to mention one with so many interesting lesbian characters. In addition, the first two chapters are supersized at 71 and 55 pages respectively, which is always a nice bonus. The series is completed and the translation is semi-regularly updated.@gimme_yuri_plz
Next is Satellite Coin Laundry. While it doesn't have the GL tag, the only romance in the series is between two girls, one of whom is perfectly vocal about her feelings. It's also a really enjoyable slice of life manga with charming world-building and cute art and a dash of mystery in the mix.
Then we have Inscrutable are the Ways of Heaven. Besides possessing a badass title, it is a short and enjoyable manga with a complete translation. While it starts off like a gag manga, it reveals a surprising amount of depth and character development. It's really spectacular and really cute.
Summer, Lemon and Overlay is another short manga. It was based off of an award winning novel and you can see the thought put into the psychological development of the deuteragonists. It's truly an incredible manga and I cried a bit at the end. It does deal with some depressing themes (tw:suicidal ideation, foiled suicide attempt), but it's not a tragedy. The final chapter contains a translated excerpt of the source material. Do not skip it!! (It's great.)
As the Wavering Love Falls. (I like angst in my romance manga
Now for the Oneshots! First we have a goofy oneshot from Rihito Urushino called your cosplay is trash lmao. I like to describe this mangaka's works as the gayest things ever to go nowhere, so it only has the subtext tag, but it's definitely worth a read. It also has a nice quantity of angst. I told you I liked angst :3
Next is Gold Star Happy End and A Dead End After All, a twoshot from Canno. It's good ol' low stakes toxic yuri and a lot of fun.
This is a short anthology by Yotsuhara Furiko called Laika, Pavlov, Pochihachikou. The first story is good but pales in comparison to the other three which have fascinating character dynamics. If you don't have time to read all of them, Lip-Service Woman and the Impregnable Woman is the cutest, and One Who Depicts Love is the most profound. Yotsuhara Furiko has the tendency of writing relationships that settle into an inconclusive but stable orbit. So while the couples aren't always shown as officially getting together, there are always happy endings. Personally, I think it's great fodder for the readers' headcanons
How to Welcome Someone Home by Imura Ei is probably her best work, and the artstyle is really nostalgic. It's short and sweet with 16 pages.
You probably know this one, but I present to you (in my humble opinion,) the greatest yuri oneshot of all time: Maple Love.
I tried to select more obscure oneshots and series, but I'd be interested in knowing which ones you know already, and which ones you enjoyed reading (whenever you get to them).
Also if anyone wants other recommendations for any genre hit me up. My 1531 title mangadex library isn't just for show lol. (It is.)
