It was kind of lackluster, I guess. In real life, MLMs are a serious issue and they run deep in society, so I was expecting a stronger solution. But I think I was hoping for too much. The whole thing about finding the founder’s mother felt more like a deus ex machina than a real solution.

To be fair, if we knew a foolproof solution to stop MLMs, we would’ve done it already.
So until that day comes, we just gotta get a spray bottle full of water and whenever someone thinks “I should start a scam” we spray them until they decide otherwise
What about baseball bats instead of water spray? Might just do the trick! Call me an idealist, but I believe a busted kneecap and one or two fracture ribs invite a lot of self-reflection.
Not entirely right, it is all about principle aka IDEA that you accepted to define yourself and you still live with it today.
Kamo (or manga author) decide to give founder GOAL to be a 'good son'. He holds principle of making his poor mother to live a good life.
Moment he see his mother get harassed by his whole COLONY, it is attacking his principle and honestly, if he is drawn as a bastard, he can choose to still be a jerk, continue the scam, keep raking the money to put his mother in a gold cage, redefining his principle and himself entirely, as how it is with many politicians today.
And this is exactly why MLM is bad, it can shape you out to be a heartless jerk, or someone who worships money and will not hesitate about the means or consequences.
