Wow, that sidetail maid is so amazing. It's weird that an NPC is hotter than all the female main characters, but some mangaka unintentionally do that sometimes. It's what comes from using traditional designs for main characters, and then experimental / quirky ones for side characters.

Sometimes the side characters are more attractive and interesting than the main ones because the artist and editorial team are willing to take risks for "throwaway" characters. That pfft maid could be tweaked a little to be the main romance target of some other work, and it might even be one that escapes the "first girl is the worst girl" trap that most romance manga stumble into.

Also for side characters being cuter, better, having more interesting personalities and stuff - wasn't this caused by authors wanting to kinda make the main cast as bland as possible so that the more people could "see themselves" in that cast? Personally I never understood that concept of "seeing myself in a character of a story I read/watch/play". I also don't get why making them bland would let more people see themselves in them, like do people actually want to be bland or is it that people know they are bland/bad/useless/etc themselves and thats why making such characters make it easier for them to see themselves in?

And if you read the LN they feel more like the OTP of the series. (I'm not against them, I actually thought their romance make more sense than with Leon, and Leon's relationship with the 3rd FMC is more well written than them until the author hold Noelle back after vol. 9)
