Going on what @BestBoy said, it seems that my theory may be true:

The people up top are doing things on their own, not telling the staff, then dumping the burden of dealing with the backlash on the mods.

This tells me they will very likely keep trying.

Yep, that sounds like a lot of the gacha companies got MD marked as being "too dirty" for advertisers.

Which likely is what is pushing the MD ad team to pick up shadier things to pay the bills.

They could do what Pixiv does, and have different types of ads, depending on if you have mature filter on or off.

On Pixiv, if you have the r18 filters on, you get mostly wholesome ads.

Turn the filters off, and you get ads with a giant handed yaoi guy railing a tiny femboys ass right in your face.

Imagine being a group or solo scanlator that was banned for using AI tools on a chapter and then they see the AI girlfriend ad. Talk about whiplash and mixed signals.
