I mentioned it on their discord and the person running the TLs said they used Gemini for cleaning. They had two cleaners give up on the series for various reasons, so decided to try the AI and didn't know it would leave a water mark.

I think you're confusing Machine Translation, with AI assisted Redrawing. None of the translators in our group use AI. You have seen the amount of insane redraws in this chapter? Unfortunately we have had 2 cleaners pick this chapter up, and both have had to drop it due to inability to redraw. Rather than waiting for another week or so before I could finish them, the original cleaner of the series said that some of the panels can be replicated using Gemini. Whilst I normally detest clanker assistance, on this occasion it was purely for damage control. As its the first time using such a thing, I had no idea it left a watermark. I have fixed the pages now and we should hopefully have a cleaner in place for the next chapter. Appreciate your understanding.

I'm a bit confused about her thinking she needed funds to pay the merchant. I was under the impression that Alec would pay the merchant for any necessities she needed. I assume he'll be surprised when he realises she's already paying the merchant on her own. Then again, it seems that she may have wanted funds in order to request things from the merchant that she expects would not be covered by Alec.

What I don't understand is why she felt the need to reveal that she is the "jewel eating villainess". I guess she's using the infamy to guarantee the quality of the gems, but he seemed able to recognise their quality on his own, and this risks spreading awareness of her existence. Of course, I don't expect the empress to become aware of petty dealings with merchants, but this is about gemstones, so if this merchant sells this while stating that they're vouched for by the "jewel eating villainess" and the gems, once polished, eventually reach the empress while still being tagged with this guarantee... Well, the empress might realise she has not been properly exiled.

Of course, Alec visiting immediately even though he stated he wouldn't in order to not tip off his mother is not helping. So I guess she was speedrunning getting kicked out from this country even if she took no actions with the merchant.

Since this is a free scanlation/translation for anyone to read (buy the original in local bookstore when available), personally I don't mind the AI redrawing (better than lazy MTL garbage just paste the hard text and call it a day).

Redrawing manually can take hours for 1 page, of which with AI redrawing, using the same amount of time, you got a good page, fully translated to read.

Not to say to support AI drawing, but fact remains even big corpo and games from japan use AI assist to make quick work of background and minor stuffs, no one should complaint that you use this for free translation.

Spread that over the whole chapter, especially this one with its tons of narrative overtext and it amounts to way too much time (especially with 35 other series and working 50 hours a week irl lol). It's the first time using it, and to be honest, it did work pretty well for something I'd always just outright refused to even look at.

Would you mind explaining why, out of interest, why you would prefer "visible whiteout" over a few panels being generated? Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly an advocate of using AI myself either, but under the circumstances...

i'm up for you to use any tool that lowers the "tedious" workload so we can get faster releases.

I'ts not fair or even sane to expect a redrawer to spend an hour per page for your free manga just because you're an anti-ai luddite (i'm personally quite tired of all the anti-AI stupidity), for thepeople that are so adamant against it, go ahead apply for the position and redraw them yourselves, but don't take more time than the AI would...
