I was guessing that the necklace was made of lead, but a radioactive gemstone makes sense. Im not sure if it exists in real life, though. Im pretty sure radioactive minerals are either very brittle or does not form crystals at all, both of which are forms not suited to be jewelry.

Zircon gemstones have uranium and thorium in them, I don't think they have enough of it to be dangerous tho.

That or green Zircon. Some IRL gemstones are colored and formed by radiation and after forming it can still emit low levels of it to bring illness over a long period if worn.
