One of the harshest truths in this story is how real the father's love is. Yes, he comes off as being blind to his daughter's emotions, and that's reasonable; he lost one of his most treasured assets when his wife passed away, and he did not want to risk losing the other. Men and women face grief in both similar and different ways, and his way was simply heavy. I'm not saying he was in the right, but you can't blame him for wanting to make sure his last remaining treasure is kept safe.

Now what crazy stories remain along the forbidden Misaki route? Still two heroines left to conquer!

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. My father realised that physical abuse towards his child was wrong, so he stopped beating me; what he did not realise is that this wasn't enough to stop the cycle of abuse and he shifted to emotional abuse instead, perhaps without realising.

He tried to be better than his own father, but in the process he still destroyed me in so many ways. I can definitely acknowledge the former, but it won't bring back my lost self-esteem, or spending my first year or two of living on my own being too anxious to just wear headphones while sitting at my PC (to name a few examples).

so based on the raws showing whatshername yandere in thumbnail of next chapter, it seems like each original heroine will likely have a little 2 parter to conclude their stories. will be absolute cinema if misaki takes lessons from each to help overcome the games limits. power of friendship is lwk peak

I love how this manga explores fate through the narrative of a romance visual novel. It's something that feels so fresh without breaking away from the comedic moments or immersion into the narrative. Other works should take note because i love this kind of storytelling

It do be rough like that. Are you worried that you'll be the same or abusive in another way if you ever have kids?

I'm unlikely to have kids at this point, partly because I'm gay, but if I were to become a parent then I would definitely want to talk to a therapist a lot about being abusive or overcorrecting.

Very nice chapter, for a world that is defined by characters and their roles, the happiness and freedom of Hareta and Misaki are also dependant of the freedom of the heroines, not because it unlocks a new route by doing so, but because it would be so cruel to the 3 of them to be eternally stucked in their roles as heroines unable to decide what they want to be while only Hareta and Misaki escape the cycle

She smiles as she loses her flags.
Hareta and Misaki chose Yamabuki to be their friend and this allowed her to be free from the prison that was being a heroine

Mr. Yamabuki does care about his daughter, but Hareta is naïve for thinking him caring for Mei's safety equals love/care. If Mei was something like a prized possession to him, like a valuable tool, he would care just as much about keeping her safe. Fortunately it's not like that, but it doesn't make it any less complicated a situation.
Anyway, loved that Misaki saw himself in Mr. Yamabuki. It's impossible not to hurt someone you love when making them happy becomes your identity.
Misaki's earnest little speech made me tear up. I'm aware it's partly because Mei is my favorite girl, but I loved the sincerity in it. I'm a sucker for things like that.
A chapter that started out with such a deceptively simple script is actually so nuanced and thought out. It's very well structured. This author is really good at writing characters that come across as generic at first sight but in context feel truly organic and alive despite their constraints.
Last three pages made this a perfect chapter. What a poignantly beautiful way to end Mei's character arc. She's been such a great depiction of learned helplessness that it makes me emotional to see some light at the end of the tunnel for her at last.

Absolute cinema... ;_;
