How does that makes them the losers? The main point of those stories is that sheer lust outdoes pure love. If the guy loses his wife/girlfriend( siscon who loses his sister, or a mother who decides to abandon him) to a guy who has a bigger dick/ screws her better, THEY are the losers. That's it. True, in some stories there's some sort of epilogue, tender closure or even more despair, but that's just to the reader, the character is already far gone.

In Otome Dori it IS the main plot. Kazuki's sister being furious that he choose Otome over her does not change the fact that Kazuki is forced to see the woman he loves being broken by lust over and over again, due to being blackmailed. He even ends up with her and 2 childs who are not his. What changes is that Kazuki's sister uses her hatred to put Otome in her place of being blackmailed by the old rich guys. Worse, one of the guys is a big shot from the conglomerate whose business Kazuki is part of, later on, so it's unavoidable. Otome does indeed break, but his sister does not. Not only that, he is disowned by his family after his sister has her way with him. Kazuki IS the loser of this story.

I see, but those are a myriad, and NTR is just a small, avoidable part of them. I used Kabe bo Mukuo no tsuma 2 mainly because the 3 games focuses on NTR, but 2 is the only one which can be avoided somewhat and fall into swapping. Or is it other adult game you have in mind?
I think what the other person means by "losers" is that they're despicable people.

Their argument is that while the role of those people is that of the rapist/corrupter of the heroine, in reality they'd be shitty people who, ostensibly, couldn't "get a girl normally" so they have to resort to abduction, blackmail, rape, torture, drugs, etc. to make a woman actually want to be with them. No woman would of her own accord, because they're terrible individuals.

Of course, it's not that simplistic--sometimes they're just assholes who could get women, but enjoy the act of stealing or breaking them & their relationships. Still despicable, but not incapable of "getting a normal relationship".

I think the person you responded to is simply casting judgment on people of that chracter type who have those roles in manga/anime/VNs, and doing so via epithets calling out the deplorable immoral way they act and ascribing their methods to their inability to do things "the correct way".

What do you think the ending of this manga will be like?

Actually, if you looking back, many people have already discussed this topic, but as the story progresses, everything keeps changing according to the newly revealed facts.

To be honest, I no longer see this series as a infidelity/cheating drama, but rather as a pure mystery story—Who is "Rika"?

In my opinion, the cheating drama in this series ended when Mori was caught and confessed about his and "Rika" affair. Then, after parts of "Rika's" past were revealed and it turned out she was already connected with current events, I began to think that the initial infidelity drama was just a piece of a larger mystery scheme.

So, if I may share my opinion, this story will end the way a mystery story ends, not like a drama. The ending of the mystery will focus on answering all the puzzle pieces and showing how the winners and losers end up, rather than a drama's focus on emotional romanticism and character relationships after the conflict is resolved. My point is this story will conclude once we uncover all of "Rika's" mysteries, and the ending will definitely showcase the consequences that the antagonist, "Rika," must face for everything she has done.

Honestly, I have so many thoughts about how this story will end. But like I said, since i think it’s a pure mystery, guessing it feels pointless because the most crucial piece of the puzzle hasn't been revealed yet.

If anyone wonders why I’ve been putting quotation marks (") around Rika name lately. To be honest, after the last few chapters, I’ve become unsure about her identity. I don't know how is it, but basically, I feel like the identity of "Rika" itself is a mystery. (To clarify, I mean here "Rika" as an identity, not as person)

Guys, this NTR discussion is so stale. I don't mean here per se, but NTR has been discussed to oblivion.
Here's what I wrote in a forum of a known "culture" site:

What NTR actually does
NTR runs on ugly themes. Betrayal, cheating, manipulation, humiliation, sometimes outright abuse. That’s the fuel.

The appeal splits people in a few directions:

Some are into the loss/inadequacy angle
Some are into power/control
Some just think the taboo itself is hot
And some can’t touch it at all because their brain goes: “this is wrong, where are the consequences?”

That last group isn’t broken. Their immersion depends on some moral logic. If the story ignores that, it collapses for them.

And no, liking immoral fiction doesn’t make someone immoral. But let’s not pretend everyone can just flip the “it’s fiction” switch and move on. Most people can’t fully detach like that.

The elephant in the room: hentai writing

Hentai is not here to win literary awards. It’s here to deliver a fetish efficiently.

So what do authors do?

They strip everything down:

Women act like they’re programmed for the scenario
The “chad” exists purely to trigger the situation
The husband is a prop with a pulse
Society, consequences, logic… gone

You’re not watching characters. You’re watching a delivery system for a kink.

Example: Chuuai Lips

The MC is a completely average guy, slightly above average downstairs, and apparently that’s enough for every married woman within greeting distance to throw her life away instantly.

Is it ridiculous? Yes.
Is it meant to be? Also yes.

The whole point is:

zero resistance
zero guilt
zero consequences

Just straight to the payoff.

Why people clash over this

For NTR to work as a quick fetish:

characters can’t think too much
consequences can’t exist
morality can’t interfere

But for people who care about writing:

characters feel like cardboard
motivations are nonsense
everyone behaves like their IQ dropped to room temperature

That disconnect is where the arguments come from.

So who’s “right”?

Both sides, annoyingly.

NTR fans want pure, frictionless fetish content
Critics want coherent characters and believable behavior

These are fundamentally different expectations. Of course they clash.

Practical conclusion

If it’s not your thing, stop hate-reading it like it owes you a moral lesson.

But also:
NTR fans shouldn’t act shocked when someone points out the writing is trash. A lot of it is. That’s not an attack, it’s just… accurate.

The real missing piece

What’s actually rare is NTR-style stories with:

emotional weight
consequences
characters that act like humans

Basically, josei-style smut but aimed at men.

You’d still get cheating, betrayal, all the spicy garbage people enjoy… but with aftermath, tension, and something resembling a brain behind it.

That alone would probably kill half these repetitive debates.

Thanks. I kinda got it near his last comment, but it still puzzles me this approach in such a moral light. It is a kink over and over, and sometimes not even goodly executed. I even wonder how some stories are treated as NTR, considering the attachment is so unilateral, the MC is really a loser in the worst way possible...

I know it's a kink. My main issue with many such doujins is how the overabundance of repetitive tropes really turns the story into just sheer porn, with no real substance. And considering that the genre has been around for decades, the recent boom seems to be engaing well with just that. I know it doesn't need to have a properly laid out story, but still, there're doujins and VNs who do have some sort of it, so it's not impossible. Even john K. Peter's doujins are not focused on the story( they're not even NTR), and still manages to entertain with some comedy and punchlines.

I used Otome Dori as an example of said tropes. Also, i used Carn( it's author) because his story( pregancy trip), together Yamamoto Zenzen's "Nantonaku Kekkon Shita Watashi no Uwaki", Kakyuu bushi's "Watashi wa Tsuma de Haha de, Tada no Mesu", and many others are the only stances of the gender where, even in the worst, hits on the part that, for, it's truer: there really is no need for tropes, most of the FMC WANTED to cheat and persisted with it, even if given a chance to stop and receive a way out( in Carn's case, the story does not punish anyone straightly, but she realizes the way she wanted would never occur. In YamaZen's story, is just as that, nothing much. In Kakyuu's story, the wife really does get the bitter end, and in the most logical way possible).

As for Misato's speach: my take was that, just like Shingo's social media addiction, the manga give us an interesting real pointo to think about, but works it so poorly it just stays as that. In this case, exactly what you described as the friction between fantasy and reality. In Misato's case, how some hentai would approach her case as starting to feel like a kink for her, and she might as well start enjoying it. But in reality, it IS disgusting and damaging to the psyche.

so do you think Their might be a plot twist later in the story
This will most likely happen with a probability of 90%. The main mystery now is Rika's true motives. It may turn out that Momonga had a tattoo on the first videos. And this whole story may turn out to be that Rika wanted to satisfy the "fetish" of Soska.

What's funny is that I don't actually hate NTR. I loathe sloppy writing and overdone cliché formulas.

Which is why I rail against NTR so much. Even the long-form "story" ones of late are overwhelmingly trying to be edgy porn with plot but--maybe because they're written by authors who are coming into the scene on the backs of the billion cookie cutter doujins--these long-form stories just suck. Bad writing, dumb characters, no actual coherent realism to the outcome.

Cuckolding and cheating drama stories can be insanely emotional and even the "bad ending" versions can still be satisfying, even if the "kink" portion isn't something I actually enjoy. But all this bad writing going around of late is almost disheartening.

Manga especially, and its hentai iteration, is such a rich medium for storycraft that it's kinda infuriating at times to see it wasted on an NTR "plot" that's identical to a thousand others, changing out names and maybe the occasional hair color on the female lead. I just want good storytelling again, whatever form it takes, at this point.

It's like that "everything becomes crabs" evolution meme-theory. Except with all things NTR--where it's all coalescing toward a single plot line and authors will just plug in names for the actors and select a hair color and whether the cucked dude gets eyes, and otherwise you would never tell them apart (and sometimes still can't).

And sorry, that was a bit of a rant & tangent, but your comment hit on something that has been banging around in my skull for awhile and I needed to vent a little.

The other problem is "NTR" is used as a catch-all term more and more of late, in situations where it has no business being used.

Also, Netorare itself is only one iteration. There's Netorase, there's Netori, and then there's that one that gets shortened to BSS that basically means "But I Loved Them First" and is for those childhood friend/one-sided crush situations where they weren't dating, but then the person gets into sex with someone else and the BSS'd character feels betrayed.

Hell, some people say "on no NTR" when a romantic rival is introduced, before anything even happens. It's just lost all meaning, being a meme at this point for everything from its actual definition to cheating (not the same thing) to consensual cuckoldry/swinging to just simple romantic rivalry or dumb jealousy.

Makes it hard to talk about at all, sometimes, when people either can't or refuse to use the term correctly, or its correct "version", and whatnot.

But the "moral dilemma" aspect is just one of the fulcrum points of the genre when it comes to its contentious nature, I figure. Those who don't get off to the immoral aspect of it will usually reject it by definition, and the concept of corrupting someone into infidelity does coincide with going against commonly established societal moral norms. So if you reject the allure, then you (likely) do so on moral grounds, and thus I can see how that would lead to wishing to rationalize the stance taken--leading to condemning the "bad actors" who make the scenarios possible and decry them ad bad, immoral people with bad, undesirable characteristics.

Agreed. I've read more than one Netorase story, and some of them do calm my heart, as it's only a couple's kink, and they stay fully functional together. Lovely and all. I can see the allure to push Netorase into Netorare, but it still feels so needlessly performatic, to attract more public, it hits me as just some generic netorare story, in the end.

Netori as well. They pin bith together, but are essentialy the opposite things. And BSS...i don't know if it's a cultural thing or not( mostly, considering the main public is usually people from Japan, with all the kokuhaku and stuff), but the appeal feels so...weak. I mean, everyone already has some history of rejection, it's sad, but not too much out of it.

Agreed as well. It's not about demanding a good plot line, but a better execution. Ironically, that's also how we end up with weak written, but satisfying storytelling in the end.

Oh, totally agree with this. Some authors want to write a "serious" long form story with character depth and pathos. Invariably, they have to put at least one sex scene in every chapter and, worse, they have to fuel the fetish. So when the FMC is taken by the nth time while crying that she loves her husband you wonder why does the mangaka even bother to write a serious story when most of the characters behave like criminals or mentally retarded people (I'm looking at you Kanade). It's ridiculous.

But in reality, it IS disgusting and damaging to the psyche.

That's why NTR has to be frictionless to hit all the right buttons. If you picked any NTR story, and I mean any, and you continued past the last page but grounded in reality, all of them without exception would become terrifying dramas with devastating consequences to all involved. And no gooner wants reality. natch.

I always say that NTR stories--and porn doujin specifically--only work because the author only writes half a story.

That's why anyone who isn't taken in by the taboo kink of cuckoldry (in whatever form, but this is especially prevalent for Netorare specifically) tends to feel so put off. Because there's no "resolution", from a narrative/storycraft perspective.

The point is the sex--the porn--and so that's all that factors into whatever "plot" serves as window dressing. But the bad taste that gets left in the mouths of NTR's detractors is born from the fact that the story "ends" prematurely.

The "second half" of the story would just be the fallout and the consequences of the characters' behavior. And that sort of thing would just 'harsh the buzz' of the post-fap afterglow.

Sometimes an author still does it, and honestly those are the most intriguing ones to me...because it's interesting to see what they consider "aftermath" to whatever nonsense the sex scenes lead to. Sadly, the majority of those are just as repetitive--the partner (usually the husband) finds out and is reduced to a cuck who jacks off on the other side of the screen while his wife continues losing herself to the 'better dick'. All agency is removed and they end up a spineless prop who lets themselves be trampled over.

When realistically, it'd be divorce, fighting over child custody, suing for damages, and possibly law enforcement involvement for the one who stole the partner. That's not sexy, though, because it's the harsh reality of what awaits those who actually go through with this stuff.

So it gets left off, because it's too reminiscent of reality, or so I suspect.

But it makes for stories that feel unfinished.

That's why i talked about Misato's speach from last chapter. While simple, if it was some sort of NTR, or even a hentai Doujin, the guy would have his way with her, she would enjoy it, mindbreak, multiple orgasms, the general tropes again. But here, she addressed how disgusted she was and the aftermaths of what those jobs from Iwabuchi did to her. The friction is present.

I always find it funny that the NTR that actually manages to hook me are those that have some sort conclusion, even though the majority belittles consequences. And that coming from someone who doesn't even enjoy the "New NTR"-like stories.

Kabe no mukuou, "Watashi wa Tsuma de Haha de, Tada no Mesu", even NTRMAN's season of loss have that little glimpse that, the longer, "deeper" the story, the bigger the chances of consequences catching up. And more importantly, it pays off, be it in a somewhat bitter taste, new kink, or even karma.

But what i learned to enjoy in those kinds of story( that being the reason why i still read a lot of NTR doujin, in hopes of finding something similar), is that the kink has an expiration date. So, when it comes, it makes you wonder if the payoff this time will be satisfaying.
