I would assume at least 2-3 years, by guesswork. He doesnt exactly say the numbers, but I'm guessing; One after getting betrayed and blowing half a country up, one on the run escaping the bounty of the nearby countries that got their neighbor blown up, and one settling down into a (somewhat) neutral territory and conceiving a child.

It doesnt seem that hes been living very long in that specific forest, and I dont think the general populace knows hes there in the first place. The "visitors" count only shot up after the first princess and her dumb noble entourage gave him a check.

Edit: after reading the previous chapters, it seems like he spent multiple years already as a fugitive, and the 2nd princess does say he is in early 20s. So definitely more than 3 years, but perhaps less than a decade.
