Mitsumi-san seems to have misunderstood and thinks MC is going to do something lewd with Hikari and Chikage. Or maybe she’s actually hoping MC will do something lewd to Hikari and Chikage
That. But it's also hanakotoba. Hydrangeas flower in different colours depending on the soil acidity. Different colours have different meanings.Sorry, choosing what? His girlfriend, or his girlfriend?
It feels like a Batman gambit in a somewhat silly romantic comedy. I think that's why a lot of people are annoyed...it's not the right tone for this story. It's the sort of thing you'd expect in one of those "super elite high school where it's run like a country" stories.Caaaalled iiiiiit. Teacher is using this opportunity to cultivate three (plus) students via one problem. Get the MC to stop playing it safe and start actually applying himself, give Chikage the opportunity to become more assertive and learn how to handle conflict, and provide Hikari a place where she can have a sense of belonging that's all her own. All while helping the Newspaper Club shape itself up.
It is a bit obtuse, but the teacher ultimately means well. She's trying to help the twins and the MC deal with the problems that are holding them back, but in a hands-off way that allows the kids to grow as individuals without relying on her guidance. This chapter shows she really values her students having the chance to feel safe and just breathe, minding their emotional health and development rather than strictly their academics. So she's going for this indirect method of helping her students grow, because if she just leads them along the path... well; "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."It feels like a Batman gambit in a somewhat silly romantic comedy. She's not forcing him to do anything. Yes, she is nudging him in that direction, but ultimately all she's doing is laying out why his continued involvement is in the best interest of all involved and then letting the MC come to his own conclusion. Most of all she's trying to get him to actually apply himself to something; she's well aware he's a lot more capable than he appears, but he actively aims for mediocrity to avoid standing out. Which is good for living an inoffensive life, but in the long run is not going to do him any favors. So she pushes him out of his comfort zone, putting him in a situation where he has to actually use that brain of his and show what he can do.Ok so the guy almost got blackmailed and now his teacher is forcing him to help the people that were about to blackmail him😑. The early chapters were way better.
Okay? But that has nothing to do with my point, which was that you have this teacher basically doing a 5-D chess move to perfectly manipulate a situation to solve every issue at once. But it's a story about some kids in high school that isn't otherwise anything like that. So it's just a weird vibe.It is a bit obtuse, but the teacher ultimately means well. Yeah it's focusing too much on the newspaper club which I don't really care about I only get really care about the MC and two girls. I also don't get keeping the newspaper club around after the crazy stuff that would normally get you expelledthis arc is getting really tedious. one of the few cases where i hate when manga adapt novels too faithfully lol
