Perhaps, but it doesn't change the fact that the princess got caught up in it. If something goes wrong, and the princess gets killed, what happens then? The smarter thing to do would be to at least let the princess know about it as well so she can protect herself if the worst case happens and Evie couldn't convince her to stand down.

Thinking you're somehow better-than because you condone children being hit by adults isn't the win you think it is.

It just betrays how backasswards you are, and given the subtext that you were hit as a child in an attempt to correct your behavior, given you're accusing others of being "fatherless(???)" or spoiled, the fact you're here advocating for it should show just how fucked up your own childhood was, and how embarrassingly sad you are for coping with that reality by perpetuating abuse against children.

Get help, before you actually become a bad person and hit a child for real.

Nothing really says that they knew she was going to try assassinating the princess when her initial target was the king, which is what Evie & Elsa did know.

For all we know, Evie happened to be up and spotted Beybey creeping through the manor with a dagger in hand, approaching where the princess was staying.
If that's the case, then there was no "giving the princess a heads up", because it was a spontaneously-developing situation.

Really trying to figure out a better way of thinking about this. The effects of spanking or physical punishment have more than just the immediate results.

It implants the idea that hitting people is a good way to change them (domestic abuse) or that it isn't dangerous (like a driver not paying attention to the road, because they are used to driving a route). It damages sense of self-esteem and also would encourage them to lie (to not get punished).

Spanking is easier and faster than a lot of other approaches. Just hit them and then ignore them, as compared to longer term positive reinforcement methods that reward good behavior while not encouraging bad behavior (or causing secondary effects).

I'm sure there is a lot I'm missing since I don't have much experience with behavioral sciences, but I would hope that it can become apparent that how behavior is managed can change the outcome of the correction.
