I could easily see those two getting together for a time only for the guy to switch back to his one true "love".

Going from his description he is talking about the most recent doujin, that's what I mean when I say that's not how it ends. MC marries someone else but still loves the FMC. FMC is also not mindbroken or anything, she does what she likes. Yes she is a slut but goes on with her life normally and isn't shown to be unhappy or regretful as he is implying.
