shiro is not a dog, it's the cat that was adopted by the cat lover, the dog is a protector spirit that haunt the shop.

the shop lady think that the kitten is dead because of the dog that haunt the shop.

I wonder if the old man is some sort of curse/calamity on beings that protect the target. We can assume that it came from Miko’s mother cause the oldest instance we see of it is as the grandmother on the roof flashback. We know François the dog died first, then Miko’s father in terms of relevant characters. Miko’s father did something as we see him say soon they won’t be needing said something. Perhaps that worked in protecting Miko’s mother but later the old man was passed onto Miko(maybe around when she gained the ability to see). The current victims have been Miko(the truck), Rom(seeing it through investigatio), Michiru/Pii(fainting after protecting Miko), and Reida(the swamp). Really curious as to how the old man will be explained it’s like we’re just missing the final piece of the puzzle.

from what i seen, the old guys is a kind of yandere ghost that target the young girl from the miko's mother line, he only target the girls when they are teen, not when they are older, if that was the case he will target the mother, but that not the case.

interesting thing, that old man is a skin thief, stealing the skin of his last ghost victim to hide itself to create ambush.

o, I don't want this to end

i doubt, there the big mountain ghost that was sealed that is always in the nature.
