if utoon was the one tling it you don't even need to ask to know it was a shitty translation by them, they mtl everything so it was just a wrong translation from an expression likely to equate to "terrifying lord"
dreadful makes no sense in any context for this situation since its purely negative when the exchange was meant to highlight van in a positive light, which extraordinary actually does

When you consider Van's ability to create fortifications practically out of thin air, the front lines would likely be a 30 meters tall and 10 meter thick wall with cranulations and reinforced artillery towers.

So really the safest place for Van to be, is where ever he is located.

Are the sfx important on that panel? Then please provide a translation. Just in the white space between panels is normally enough. Doing proper cleaning and typesetting in panel would be chef's kiss, but that is for if you want to be perfect. It is much more reasonable to either ignore them (if not of any relevance) or annotate them at the side.

Those war wagons look like something out of Mad Max. But I feel sorry for the horses.
I thought he could make some kind of ultra-dense wood derived stuff that might work more like a more breathable armor but still proof against conventional projectiles. Horses have poor temperature control, and full plate like they're wearing would be a real burden for them.

To be fair, MC dad is the real deal in how skilled he is! Problem is, he underestimated "the changing of times" (Like a Skilled Samurai going up against a Revolver for the first time! No matter how skilled he is, BANG BANG BANG and "then he drops!") as was shown before!

They even kind of pointed it out that his forces are spread thin! The one ADVANTAGE though is that the enemy was HEAVILY relying on the other areas being captured or at least the surviving forces mixing in with each other! So essentially taking the fortress was NO EASY FEAT (even with using a method Daddy couldn't counter because he lacks his son's sense of IMAGINATION seeing how he basically has EVERY FREAKING SCENARIO HE CAN THINK UP FIGURED OUT when building his town's "defenses" While Daddy is likely taking into mind frontally assaults! The "Dropping bombs from a height arrows and magic can't reach" was something he DIDN'T or COULDN'T have factored seeing how bombs were being used first time on the field ON HIS FORCES in their worlds history! So it was a Secret Weapon he couldn't possibly have figured out!)

Just more means for destiny to throw egg on his face (had he NOT been prevented killing MC on the spot by his brother, MC would be dead and his territory would have been conquered, no matter what he KNOWS it's only because of his SON, the good brother convincing him to EXILE in all but name MC to the middle of nowhere that his territory DIDN'T Collapse and he ain't dead, worse things is that son STILL admires him DESPITE his crude behavior just to add salt to the wound because he knows he would have killed him, and not CARED! His Merit mindset has the flaw of him having that DREADED "The weak are to be culled if they can't keep up or be useful" to the Extreme! A Bad mindset to have if you "idea of Merit" isn't wide enough to think usefully! Like thinking "Doctors and healing are for pussies" as an example!

Reminder that when MC came to his Dad's aid. The enemy were THROWING DOWN BOMBS from a height magic nor arrows could reach and they were helpless! And Bombs were JUST INVENTED by the enemy, so that was it's first time being used in Combat to GREAT EFFECT! Not enough time for a countermeasure to have been made or set up (MC might have already thought it up, IF the fort was under his command! His dad though likely didn't have enough time to think it up, especially adding his shock and embarrassment about being saved by the "son he all but didn't say he casted off hoping he'd die quietly in a backwater previously USELESS as far as he knew location!" Remember he had egg on his face since he KNOWS in a sense, his other son has more right to MC accomplishments then he does, seeing that he was the reason he didn't KILL MC ON THE SPOT back in chapter 1)

The Third Option is, the "impregnable fort" finally met an Attack it couldn't stop because it never knew it EXISTED! Again, the Bomb Raid was TERRIFYING because they had NO DEFENSE AGAINST IT! MC was able to take the flyers down, but it's STILL a glaring weakness now that the possibility exists! Plus it hasn't been that long since the last attack! No one was aware till that stupid Prince's attack on MC Town that this was a full on INVASION of MC's dad's territory that was WELL PLANNED as it was meant as a STAGING POINT for the invasion of the Kingdom as a whole!

The one Spanner in the Works, they never factored was MC, but to be fair, the common knowledge was Production magic was "useless" because no one ever invested in it or truly understood how it worked (so LITERALLY it's "Right power for the RIGHT MINDSET that is MC" that it gets to SHOW how OP it is! Reminder that MC was able to show his Fiancee and everyone "just how POWERFUL Puppet Magic can be in the right hands and right equipment as well! That one ALSO having a logical reason of people getting stupid just cause ONE ASSASSIN with it used it! Not a surprise assassins used ELEMENTAL Magic, but THOSE got a pass because people saw the use in other ways before Assassins would use it, but cause an Assassin used Puppet Magic to kill FIRST before anything else! People went FULL IGNORANT! Speaking of which, can't WAIT for MC to meet his in-laws and show them just how BADLY they missed out on Arte like the assholes they are! What they thought was marrying her to some backwater fourth son thrown away instead had her a FUCKING FUTURE BARONESS and well respected, and they SHAMELESSLY know they have no right to make ANY CLAIMS seeing how unsupportive to out right ABUSIVE they were to her!) and it's funny since his dad never factored their tactics, but then they never factored MC either!
