I almost hope the answer isn't as simple as "force your tongue down Luliam's throat and your magic will be cured", because while I can appreciate that, going "the answer is gay sex" feels like it would undercut some of the effort put into the series. I say that, knowing that one of the core facets of them developing the power in the first place was intimacy between the two, but I still sorta feel like it'd be a bit contrived and not that far off from "it's a horny setting and sex is the secret sauce" styles of storytelling.
I won't be disappointed, or even the slightest bit upset. But if there's more to it, I think I'd like that direction.
I do suspect that the "first saint" might very well be Astora's (late) wife, though, yes. Again, would be neat to see it not be the case and my expectations be subverted--like maybe Astora was a close friend to the first human queen, and her wife was the first saint, who was the first Isekai'd individual to this world that saw some great calamity averted. Maybe the first saint has something to do with the Elven Homeland being sealed off, even--perhaps as part of the "cost" in saving the realm in the first place?
Either way, there'll likely be clues as to how Nana & Luliam can fix the issues with our current saint's magic hidden within this very long story. But most pressingly, is Nana getting over her self-conscious state of being and not running away from Luliam for a dozen-plus chapters of story. Which--I guess I would have to retract that first paragraph, if the "answer" really is Nana "Getting Closer" with Luliam. Because that would mean we avoid any sort of "but I caaan't" from Nana, which keeps that particular story beat from stalling out.
I'm guessing the next chapter will all the Lore Dump, though--with any implications or conclusions made, being the follow-up (I assume it'll take most of a chapter's worth of page count to convey everything Astora has to say). But, whatever comes of this story and the revelations it brings for Luliam and Nana, I do like that we finally have the princess's motivation in vying for the throne. She's so much more passive than Eldora, that a simple "I want to help my people" felt....very much a letdown, as a rationale. So this makes a lot more sense, given how much Luliam adores and respects her master/mentor figure.
Thanks for the chapter as always. Next month's edition can't come soon enough.
