It only works with low ambient humidity, however, and is counterproductive otherwise

Put a few 2 thirds full bottles of water in the freezer, so you can get a rotation schedule going, then pop one behind a good fan and back in the freezer when they melt. The fan sucks cooled air from around the iced bottle which is nice when it starts getting ideas above its station and going well over a civilised 25 degrees.

On the other hand, the freezer produces waste heat while freezing anything inside it, so unless you have a fancy setup where that waste heat is dumped outdoors (you know, like an aircon) this may be heating your indoor air overall. Still a good idea to drink cold water, at least.

Really, just get aircon if you possibly can. Everything else is inadequate, and there will be another heat wave. Plus, it's what a Japanese reincarnator would do, even if he had to reinvent it.
