It's been a long time since I've read it but it's like any of the actually good character growth that came from MC in the movie arc was just completely dropped.

We find out why Chizuru is doing what she's doing. Not to mention her grandmother was dying. They and others work so hard just so the grandmother can see Chizuru in a movie. It was just so fucking peak.

At this point the MC continued to show support and hugged her as she cried after the passing. They should have become a couple from there. MC was actually likeable.

Then literally the next chapter he's back to acting how he usually did and like nothing happened. Like what the fuck.

The character development of this series is way too diluted.
Post movie the major arcs in the manga pacing were a nightmare for a weekly series mind you.
TLDR
After movie arc, the matriarch invites the FAMILY and Chizuru to a pool trip, Mami invites herself in because Kibe, the self proclaimed MC's best friend has a loose mouth for the Nth time, and Mami sweet talks her way to the Granny to get in. Ruka also gets in if others can get it btw. Mami finds out Chiz rent side job and wants to blackmail her but Chiz is under pressure so much that in this very arc MC decides to confess his love for real to her but Chiz is so out of her mind she just walkts away from MC who was still confessing just to answer Mami's phone call, this outraged many because this arc took a hit on Chiz' character and everyone were hating on her, Kazuya saw this as a rejection, got a mental break down and got depressed, then the infamous 218 happened, one thing was MC imagining Chizuru with other men but to add extra salt the author made MC grow a hard on while imagining THAT, the internet was merciless to the author because it hit on Xmas of all thing, then for the first time in years the manga took a week of hiatus and returned, many suspect during that time of lapse the editor in charge of RAG got fired because posterior tankoubons afterwords the author thanks a different editor for working with him.
Anyway Mami wasn't getting her way as she wanted so she just exposed Chiz's side job in front of everyone trying to push Chizuru to shift the blame on MC who was an emotional mess unaware of what was going on , paint him as a creep, stalker and blackmailer, so of course fucking Kibe hits him no questions asked first, then Chizuru after so much pressure decides to save face and kiss MC in front of everyone lying that it's true it's was how they met but she likes MC for real, everyone calms down and let it pass, nobody apologizes to MC who was still clueless abou what just happened with everyong jumping him like a bunch of robbers.
Afterwards Mami rants on Chizuru for not obeying and Chizuru just calls her jealous pissing her off further.
Next arc is cohabitation arc, Kazuya's room burns because of gas leaks. Chizuru feeling all the shit from before was her fault lets him in her house which btw is huge because she inherited it from her late grandparents. Actually a decent to good arc because they cohabitate like normal person, Mini makes a comeback after being left out for the pool arc and she makes them stop acting like idiots.
MC doubts if this was helpful at all, Chizuru is pretty much always with a poker face, Umi also makes an appearance, Chizuru is mildly annoyed at him because he used his connections to find out her place only a few people know, likely one of her school "friends" sold her out because most of the time they fall for Umi's handsome face and become loose mouthes.
He is there once again to tell her to become his gilfriend, and the moment she is rejecting him for the third time he stops her and really begs her to think this through carefully and will give her enough time to think about it and leaves in a taxi. MC and Mini saw this all, then some days later MC's found a new place to live so he has to move out, they go on a date again and she tells MC she can go out with him yet because she still is not clear on her feelings while still doing the actress and rental side job (this caused another viral on websites claiming she rejected him which was of course a lie, they just took a caption and started grifting about it, if you saw that manga panel with no context you got duped by a grifter, I don't like this manga but I dislike grifters far more). MC is ok, unbothered but neither happy, thinks later that maybe it's time to move on and hops in a taxi ready to go to his new place to live and when he was getting sent off by Chizuru she just jumps in the taxi and gives him a deep kiss leaving him once again confused. A new arc is on going but still too early to make a TLDR about it.

Well if the author dose intended to get them back together then yes there is a story there that would restore some of the core premise of the story. Of course you already know what my preference is but we can't dismiss Sakura right now because the author hasn't closed the door yet on them when that happens the story is most certainly at the end until then we wait and see.

What core premise? that she wont cheat and the baits are still keep going ? What is supposed to be the purpose behind it? She already cheated.And she will do it again and again when shinobu cant get it up. Than there will be another fuckboi and he will manipulate her to cheat on him again... wow what a great save. The manga continuing with slutkura baits would be so fucking lame writing. With chapter 129 airi should give this an end and give shinobu a happy end with fumi. There is no one else that deserves him except her. Slutkura def not.

This one is restarted and that's why I can see it happening would be completely pointless though.

The handsome guy is pretty devious because he acted not for Sakura's sake, but for his own. It's infuriating. He took advantage of Sakura's vulnerability, thinking she had her heart broken, and made her his own, and he also had sex with Shinobu, implicitly saying there's no room for him anymore. I bet he's exaggerated a lot of what he told Sakura about his interactions with Shinobu, too. Something like, "I'm dating Fumi, please tell her we're breaking up." That would explain why several months have passed since then. I guess we'll have to watch Sakura, who's currently unresponsive, gradually open her heart to the handsome guy... It's so hard to watch.

This one I understand and hope happens

I see comments saying it's all Fumi's fault for kissing him, but rather, Sakura and Nakanishi completely ignored what others had to say and unilaterally made Shinobu the bad guy, exposing their selfish and despicable natures through their blame-shifting thinking. I think it's amazing that Shinobu doesn't blame Sakura, Nakanishi, or Fumi, and wishes everyone success. He's always put himself on the line, even when he was stabbed by a stalker, protected Nagi when she was beaten up by her ex-manager, and stayed by her side when she was all alone. Now, I hope he can pursue his dream of becoming a film director and find happiness. I'm rooting for Shinobu.

Sakura's pretty bad, but I really can't stand Nakanishi. He's portrayed as a good-looking guy with a nice personality, but: - He takes a heartbroken Sakura to his room - He takes the opportunity to buy condoms - (Just a little at first,) He has non-consensual sex with a reluctant Sakura (though it ends up being consensual...) - He proudly declares victory at a fancy cafe that he "had sex" (probably without Sakura's permission) So, his actions towards Sakura can hardly be called kind. Moreover, the reason Sakura mistakenly thought he was cheating is because he was the one who said she was cheating without verifying anything in the first place.

ShiSaku is the core premise, cheating happened, but in a mature romance forgiveness is another recurring theme sometimes. Well it's entirely possible that she will show us that Sakura will in fact learn that she really dose love shinobu and no one but him will do fuckboi may just be lust not love if you contrast her with shinobu then with fuckboi there is clearly and difference in how she felt there is a story there you know you let something go if it comes back it was meant to be type of shit real world attitudes do not apply here. Of course the next chapter could slam the door on all that ending the story.

Narrative shaping and damage control maybe it's one of the big reasons why I think the breakup between shinobu and Sakura is really permanent. But some comments they have deleted were just speculation on what chapter comes next.

I hear it's because Chizuru is modeled after the author's wife, and he plans to cuck MC with his self-insert in the end. Time will tell if that will happen. I just check back from time to time whenever I see a YouTube video about it pop up in my recommended section and take in the eminent train wreck. 😆
