For the first time in a while, i'm actually in agreement with this sort of MC. She is so naive and clueless (which is kinda unrealistic in of itself but) that she could be doing this with anyone who dared approached her first. It just happens to be the MC. And he realized that She is in such an isolated fantasy land in her own mind that accommodating to her forwardness almost feels like borderline abuse of a mentally handicapped. She has no idea what is right or wrong almost. Like a toddler. He was in such a disbelief that he thought she was joking. But she isn't. It is indeed VERY dangerous.

So showing her the actual reality THEN getting serious about their relationship is not much of a narrative stretch imo. This might be the first time ever for a blueballs romcom to have an excuse to stay blueballs for a while.
