if anything, I’d say she has less of a chance since this is the first major arc. I’m guessing the next one will be focused on his super strong/shy cousin. And the one after will return to main girl. Ideally main girl starts playing a role in this arc at some point but idk. Doesn’t help that this is basically s monthly release so we’ve only really focused on this girl for ages

Nisekoi made sense because of the childhood promise, the premise was about discovering the promise girl, in this case is far from being that...
Either Author is trying to fill up chapters to think about Hinako's next arc (she's very plain so i guess its hard to shape a story for her) or he plans Mirei Tennouji as endgame, that would be the greatest outcome.

Youre absolutely right on the dot. Each girl basically gets a whole light novel volume to themself with a bit of Hinako + other girls sprinkled into it. It starts with Hinako in V1, Mirei in V2, Narika in V3 (you were indeed correct), Yuri (commoner childhood friend) in V4. Afterwards it focuses more on Itsuki’s hardships in the school and his rise to vice president of the student council, also getting Asahi (the one female friend thats seemingly has no romantic feelings for him) in like V8 iirc. Every Volume after the first 4-5 start leaning into drama very heavily and Hinako is still emphasised as the main girl in all the side moments between them.

Frankly i forgot since it’s been like a year and a half since i last read the light novel especially since the tl site that had all volumes is dead, but

Yuri is Itsukis childhood friend, though i dont think their connection actually went earlier than like elementary school. She calls herself his “big sister” becaude shes always taking care of him, and this is heavily emphasised throughout the arc. We see in this chapter that he takes Mirei on a date to the arcade, after which he will take Hinako and Narika too because they got jelly. Yuri spots him on one of the dates i forgot which one and thats their first “interaction” since Itsuki got kidnapped

Later Itsukis school goes on some educational programme or something at a resort and Yuri turns out to be working part time there as a cook/waiter. She reunites with Itsuki, has him explain everything that happened and befriends a bunch of the other Ojou samas. She hopes to continue being his reliable big sister and help him in life

Eventually she starts realising that the gap between her and Itsuki is too large, that hes changed so much and she didnt, and that she no longer has a position beside him as his “big sister” (or something along those lines) and runs away. Itsuki with encouragement from the Ojou samas chases after her and reassures her, sparking her to realise her romantic feelings for him and prompting her to join the heroine race. She continues with her “big sister” act while trying her best to get his attention. Shes also the one who instigated Hinako to realise her feeings and lends her romance manga for inspiration

Later she is hired at the konohana mansion as a cook. She supports itsuki frequently throughout later volumes, but because she isnt part of the school Itsuki is in she doesnt get much screentime. I love her alot but shes definitely the biggest losing heroine

Heroine race is still ongoing as of volume 10 (havent read 11 yet) and Mirei is actually one of the leading heroines because she became student council president while Itsuki is vice president, and they even commonly (accidentally) flirt in the council room. Im holding out on the fact that theres still hope but im pretty damn sure the author is dead set on Hinako winning in the end.

Honestly, I really hope that the author follows the based strategy of "What if I made a different candidate much more appealing, leading to the audience to believe she has no chance and anguish over it, but secretly, she was intended to win from the very beginning?"
