The bad thing about having great female characters in these roomcoms is that eventualy they will lose, so i feel sad when they have their arc about how the fall in love with the mc

what's funniest about the people talking shit about Hebikawa--

Is that up to now, she's actually not done anything to Kusunoki, other than decide that she "wanted to see Kusunoki's darkness". But the (relatively few) times she's actually interacted with Kusunoki, she's not done or said anything to her specifically that could be considered "bad". She teased Kusunoki a little about whether she had a crush on Keisuke (which is when she first clued in that Kusunoki might have some subconscious feelings that she could weaponize)--and she talked shit about Irie during the Festival Play, wherein Kusunoki defended Irie, said some heartfelt stuff toward Hebikawa, and Hebikawa got mad on her own about how it seemed like Kusunoki was 'judging her' (and it was entirely her own read of the interaction, after-the-fact).

Like, she's done actual fuck-all toward the FL, and while she is determined to "use" Keisuke to get to Kusunoki, she's instead started falling for him bit by bit as he continues being authentic around her and not letting her play the "fake act" she's gotten down pat. And even her "bullying" that we've seen toward others, past and present, was a reaction to being bullied herself, and then badmouthing people in "polite ways" to turn others against them.

You'd think she'd killed Kusunoki's cat, the way some people talk about her, but in truth she's actually been very ineffective toward the FL this entire time, only reiterating her desire to "unmask" Kusunoki, but making no actual progress (and finding herself slowly changing, to boot).

Just entertaining how much hate she gets from those who dislike her, and how disproportionate it seems the moment you actually read the story.

I meant former Mom's BF. I don't think she'd have a legit BF who was that old.

Who is "former Mom's BF"? As far as we're told (again, chapter 33) Hebikawa's mom started dating Koji-san after she divorced Hebikawa's dad between Hebikawa's middle school and high school life, and is still seeing him to this day. There's only been one boyfriend of her mom's that we're told of, and we are told by Hebikawa herself that she's never dated anyone.

The "compensated dating" lie is just people repeating what Keisuke said in chapter 30 before he found out what was actually going on, and I guess they also just stopped reading the story because it's been explained & corrected since that point.

As always, Moe is best girl and I hope for her to win. But I fear she has the least chances.... No really, I fear her chances are zero.

Kusunoki is actually kinda trying here a bit, for once. Her name is still on the title, I guess she still has the most chances.

As for Hebikawa. I don't know. But I do want to have some character growth for her, whether she becomes the romantic lead or not. I actually think the author would be more likely to make her the main Heroine than Moe...

Countering hate comments? Where? Because I must've missed them. All I've seen is page after page of people explaining why Hebikawa is actually the most fascinating, tragic, and well-written character in the series.

You wrote a whole psychological breakdown to justify her behavior. Sure, she has a sad backstory, but you're acting like you're standing up to a crowd of haters when that crowd barely exists. If anything, the actual unpopular opinion here is saying, "Maybe using someone to hurt an innocent person isn't exactly okay," and then getting dogpiled for it.

This isn't really pushing back against hate. It's just another "my problematic oshi has layers" post. You're piling onto the consensus, not pushing back against it.

Imagine the smell of that plushie the next day. Gosh. 🐴

While I don’t like the Snake girl personally, thought I’d type that out to counter all the low brow snake hate comments she’s received over all the chapters since the author does a pretty good job writing and developing this character.
So true brother. No one expected the tearjerking backstory for the stereotypical teenager character that acts like a massive cunt for no actual reason whatsoever. Man author-chan really outdid himself with the neglectful divorced mother on this one. 👨‍🦼

this chapter shows again why hebikawa is a far more interesting character than whatever the pink haired girl is called.

Me trying to find the so called "low brow snake hate comments" when 90% of the comments are shit posts about her, and 5% are breakdowns on how "Maybe its okay to psychologically manipulate people if your home life sucks".

You know who else had a shitty time growing up? Jeffrey Dahmer. Does him having a shitty childhood justify his actions? Absolutely not, so why are people glorifying her behaving like a sociopath just simply because she is "Interesting". It comes off as those cringy "I want her to kill me" type people.

Her entire purpose has been to provoke the fmc. Her pursuing the MC has been entirely to provoke the MC. Disproportionate? I see most comments here just praising the snake girl. Hell any chapter she isn't present there are like 10-15 comments saying "Where snek". Are you actually reading the comments section, or seeing like the first 3 comments and deciding you know exactly how it is going.

Go back and re-read the comment you replied to. I was very particular about my word choice; I said of those who dislike her, the hate they have for her is disproportionate to her actions in the series. Because again--she's done nothing to Kusunoki yet. And is even in the process of falling for Keisuke, despite her intentions to make the inverse happen.

You made a serious comparison between her and Jeffrey Dahmer in your other comment. Nothing you have to say strikes me as particularly worthy of good faith consideration, if you're going to hyperbolize to such a ludicrous extent in an effort to make your point (badly, I might add).

went through comment sections of previous Snake chapters and it’s hilarious how anti-snake this place used to be back then, just people dogpiling on her character for 100+ comments.
