Friendly reminder that we can enjoy the manga and find it entertaining without posting an insane wall of text and needlessly picking sides in a fictional drama.
It's a damn drama dude, the whole point is to discuss it and pick a side and have a discuss about it. Do we know It's fiction? Yes and if you take the drama too seriously you might need to rethink life and stop reading fiction books, it is fun to see what people think and who they choose to defend and what reason are behind there choose? Yes. That's apart of enjoy a drama series.

Female MC deserves better friends than these two
Yeah, I get the feeling that even if Yuu and Yami never happen, at this point with how indecisive and scummy he has been, Yuu and Hikari won't happen either. Yami deserves the isolation she has brought onto herself, Hikari deserves someone who will not see her as an afterthought and Yuu deserves to watch the both of them move on without him.

People here are criticizing Yuu very harshly because the guy really does want to get a threesome. But yes, "I like both Hikari and Yami" is probably the most honest position for him right now
I'm really not getting why there are people hating on Yuu so much now. He is basically saying hey we have been shitty people but let's go back with our friends and give some time and talk to figure out stuff then Yami hit the I can be your angle or yuor devil. And is his fault somehow?

I know we all project our stuff onto these kids, but some of you need to let go of some of the team colors, man.

This, and the fact that the whole "let's save Yami" project is primarily Hikari's doing. This entire meeting happened thanks to Hikari, and she'll probably show up soon, either tonight or within another short time skip. Whatever Yuu is doing, he's undoubtedly already discussed it with Hikari, at least to some extent, and we know he was texting her in the previous chapter while talking to Yami.
Like I said, I hate him a lot because Yuu dared to admit he still likes Yami even though he's currently choosing Hikari over her —and yes, this makes it clear that his final offer to Yami to follow her to hell is more out of desperation than because he feels it's what's best for him.
Yeah, I get the feeling that even if Yuu and Yami never happen, at this point with how indecisive and scummy he has been
Indecisive in what sense has Yuu been? The boy has made some pretty clear decisions so far, and it's not his fault how Yami and Hikari have reacted to them.
Hikari deserves someone who will not see her as an afterthought
And we're still stuck on the obsession with male virginity and the criticism of Yuu for not saving his virginity for Hikari, when Hikari has made it clear to us countless times that she prefers experienced men and definitely doesn't want a virgin boyfriend.
Yuu deserves to watch the both of them move on without him
Yuu unironically prefers this to seeing Hikari and Yami perpetually bitter because of him, as he says directly in chapter 47 to Hikari. "Make me your common enemy, go and reconcile with Yami-senpai"

Y'know, I'm a hardcore Hikari/Yuu loyalist, but even I have to admit: with the way things are going, Hikari deserves better.

So here's a crackpot solution:

Yami continues being the definition of a sunk-cost fallacy

Hikari finds someone with a few more braincells to work with

And Yuu ends up with someone who's as dumb as he is: Seki Nadeko

I like that the VERY first comment was just a butthurt dumbfuck waiting on his toes for a proper Yuu negative chapter (which is this one) to spill his said butthurt. Never change romcom addicts never change.
It could have been much worse. Yuu's actions in this chapter were, all things considered, decent. If anything, they reinforce what I already said: the boy may be braver and more decisive, but he will always be a submissive boy. He will always let Yami and Hikari make the decisions for him and will only act when they push him to.
Romcom addicts still haven't internalized the role-reversal and female domination nature of the story, and Maruto didn't even try to hide it in that chapter where Yami and Hikari dressed as men. In fact, if there's one good thing about Yuu not being in the same school as them, it's that they would have probably already dressed him as a girl at this rate.
And for Yuu, what the fuck were you even trying to accomplish here?
He's trying to get Hikari to pull him out of the mud, apparently.
Aya doesn't consider the first offer a real offer b/c he doesn't have a plan. That's why he folds the second she challenges him on it and offers running away. What she's looking for is that he not fold but actually legit work on a plan with her
In other words, just the thing what he proposed. "Let's work together on a plan, let's think about what to do". His alternative offer is simply to make it clear that he doesn't intend to let her fall into the abyss, even if it drags him down with her.
He's not being the push she wants/needs to reconcile if he's also offering an easy way out/fall back to cowardice.
Yes, the point is that this doesn't fit with his personality —which, again, will always be submissive— nor is pushing Yami like that likely to fix anything, as Hikari's actions in chapter 41 demonstrated. As I suspected, this chapter proved —again— that only teamwork between Yuu and Hikari can save Yami.
To all the people that said Yuu hadn't done anything wrong, you can shut up now.
He did nothing wrong yet.

He already rejected Seki in earlier chapters ago, because Seki is an authentic slut who has had a lot of boyfriends. Seki is the thing who everyone thinks here it´s Yami. Not, Yuu will ends up with Yuki Hirai. She is the Miyako Shikimori of this series and will return to claim who was always hers by her own right. In a more typical romcom, she would have been the girl who would have found Yuu crying in his exams to access Hikari´s school and not Yami planning to prostitute herself.
She's at the very least moderately self aware that she's awful while he isn't.
Reading comprehension devil attacked again. Literally just in the last chapter before this, we saw Yuu literally admitting that he sucks

Wash your mouth with soap before talking about Anime Regina George. How dare you talk shit about her, she's so perfect she has her own spinoff in the background of the series in her own head, with full opening song and everything. I will throw you off a cliff.

i can tolerate messy drama as a story focus/narrative but baiting your readers with a sweet romcom for 10 chapters then doing a switcheroo of the genre is just dog shit. Either you commit to the premise or you end your current manga before writing white album 3

Whatever this "I can't lie about how I feel" means - I have no clue either. Was it what you suggested? Was it her idea that Yuu's heart wasn't fully in it? Was it about the consequences for all three of them? Was it simply her desire to not have a happy ending? I have no idea.
I think it must be self loathing for all that she has done winning her internal battle despite her wanting to go to a better place. Understandable, but still the kind of thing you will look 10 years in the past and makes you want to throw yourself in front of car of how dumb the approach is. And with the extra on top of how Monsanto wants to come and spray her with insecticide because of how absolutely corny her internal dialogue is.

He wasn't offering platonic, he was offering her the easy route - "if you're too scared to face Hikari, you can hide w/ me". Compounded w/ his comment about hurting Hikari, which reads like he thinks he doesn't deserve Hikari, and it's very "mutual wound licking" vibes.

It all feels like a retread of their original ship, which they'd just done the autopsy of. Which Yuu acknowledges by saying he hasn't grown; actual growth would be Yuu saying something like what you posted - a clean platonic offer to support her in rebuilding her friendships b/c he knows that's what she really wants but is too scared to go after.
No, I agree with ALL of this.

I was just making a Hunchback joke. Where The bad guy is singing Hell Fire, asks for a sign, gets a sign, but rejects it.

What, they're on Discord? Do they play games together?
They tried Apex Legends, but Yami keeps ditching the team then trauma dumping whenever she fucks up and gets wiped. Hikari and Yuu are hyper-fixated on her due to a mixture of sunk-coat fallacy and misplaced compassion. And she's a decent Wraith.

And with the extra on top of how Monsanto wants to come and spray her with insecticide because of how absolutely corny her internal dialogue is.
Aw c'mon bro! She just has it so hard. Nobody loves her! She has no friends! She screams to the heavens "won't somebody love me?" cue single overhead light on a dim stage, slowly shrinking around her Woe is her.

You know... at this point, fuck it : if those 3 want to live in constant discord, so be it, I don't care anymore.
I honestly believe if Hikari picked up some work at a soup kitchen or animal shelter, she'd probably feel more fulfillment than whatever this [gestures wildly] fuckin' mess is.
