Probably Marincess, summon Blue Tang send Sea Horse to GY and then Summon sea horse on link monsters link space.
Of course with Marincess its all done in one turn but the interaction sounds familiar enough.
The goal of the deck is to play a big immune to effects monster with a really good field spell and able to play out Marincess monsters from spell zone to play while also negating the opponents spell, with a trap called Marincess wave to protect all Marincess on the field while negating a card.

You forgot three things, and it become basic rule that applied on him albeit he already noticing it or not (3 is special and he know this apparently)

1. If there's tragedy or world kind disaster around tcg, he just happened not on site of incident(so other chara resolve that incident instead)
2. He basically nullify what seed of incident before happening (like what happened on this chapter)
3.

insane pull luck. Sometimes what he get is Ancient series but not Synergy with his deck and ended up as ace for other people's deck instead
