He got the 'Hero' title probably because of a prophecy that he will kill the demon king and save humanity. I mean, that's the entire reason for a hero in the first place, right? Also, I prefer a hero who has flaws and is downright arrogant like him, but has real ability and skill to back him up as leader of the party. With a leader like that on your team, no one dares to mess with you, and any flaws he has will be covered by his friends/companions.
