he's not really clueless and actually he is a decent person
he is just someone who has placed unto pedestal (without him wanted to) and he is trying too fill it, but now he is tired of that (of fulfilling everyone expectation and maintaining the balance between his harem)
he also already has feeling that not every girl love him but actually love mc, but somehow he got the girl/harem

thats why he can truly open up with mc because he is the only one act real on him

It was a garbage bag. Inside said garbage bag was the love letter wrongly sent to MC. MC maybe saw it in passing (assuming the bags ar transparent or at least translucent), and it caught his attention.

It's important because it hints that Runa (the sister) is the one that took the letter and threw it in the trash, and as such she's possibly the stalker, and the one who sent the black letter.

Of course, in this same thread you can find certain spoilers that will confirm or deny said hints. It's your choice to look them up.

To be fair, it isn't exactly his first thought. He was scared after seeing someone standing under a street light looking at someone's house. If he's already worried about a stalker (totally logical, considering the letter), and he sees behaving in a somewhat suspicious behaviour, it makes sense that he assumes that said person is doing something weird. Also, the hoodie girl notices him when his foot scrapes in the pavement and almost instantly starts running. He just calls her out at roughly the same time.
