He was saying he likes a character, and the character he is using as his pfp is the exact opposite of that character. That is an observation of inconsistencies and comes off as someone just garnering attention. It would be like saying "my favorite character is yui yuigahama" but rocking a yukino pfp. I am aware I insulted him while pointing out his inconsistencies in taste, but my main point still stands that it doesn't make sense to like a character enough to make it your pfp, but then comment about liking a character that is almost the exact opposite of said character.

At that point moe hadn't even said she liked him specifically. She just said she liked someone. The next few chapters were Kusunoki not knowing if she even liked him, so she asked AI. She literally didn't know if she liked him or not, so she didn't lie. She thought about him specifically because that is the closest person to fit the bill. We as readers know she obviously likes him, but she herself does not know. Just like we as readers know Moe likes him, but HE does not know. Are we going to blame him aswell for not knowing?

Also do you expect her to just come forward with this information to her best friend when it was literally the cause of her early trauma and reasons for her isolating herself? Why is it we are so quick to dismiss the malicious actions of Hebikawa because of her trauma, but we latch onto these things that are not even being presented in an honest way? Your ordering of events is skewed to paint characters in a much darker light because it fits your narrative.

I think it started as a meme then went to this autistic degree. I do think by a far margin she's the best character in the manga and every chapter she's in is a chapter I find very memorable but I do think most snek people are waifu posting ironically or exaggerating with a few who are being very unironic.

I agree that she's the best character in the series, but there's a vast difference between "this is the best character", and "OMG BEST GIRL SHE CAN DO NO WRONG!!!!!", which is most of what I see from the usual suspects. I sincerely hope they are being ironic (some definitely are, and are just repeating the same joke ad nauseam) and don't actually want to date a girl like that, because I can tell you from experience it is awful.

That said, while I think she's the best character in the series, I also don't think she's well written. I think she's still a pretty one-dimensional character, just less so than the rest - "manipulative bitch with difficult upbringing" isn't exactly an uncommon character archetype in manga, and the author here doesn't really deviate from the trope much. What does bug me though, is when people point to that upbringing as a way to absolve all of her past and present behavior.

The discussions across the chapters were pretty entertaining... when they were quick one or two sentences. But when overanalyses like these sprout up over a mostly decent manga made by a single person at least trying to make an effort, I just roll my eyes out.

I formatted it well enough to be easy to read, and I didn't psychoanalyze shit, I literally just wrote about stuff about Kusunoki from the manga that was shown directly as an example of her Mary Sue character and why I and many others don't like her because of that. Didn't say anything that wasn't directly shown.

It's sad to see the way some snek fans act, there's even one guy who made a new account now mass reacting to everyone's posts, I find Hebikawa interesting but she's certainly not a unique character and yes, I completely agree with your point about her upbringing.

Hebikawa's upbringing and her current worldview need to be addressed, she's using her own circumstances to mess with the people around just to "justify" that her worldview is correct, this is why she needs to be humbled.

And it's been months since then, she does know that she likes him now, Moe confided in her, why didn't she tell her afterwards that she likes someone too? She should've told her immediately that she's in love with the same guy as Moe, but she didn't. Hebikawa did the right thing by telling her as Kusunoki clearly has no intention of doing so, despite Moe telling her the truth herself.
