The other chapters exist on other sites. Another group (separate from On A Whim) seems to have released chapters 39-41, just not on MD, which is why this person picked up on 42.

But yeah, FWIW 2 months is not an abnormal pause between chapters especially for an irregular scanlation so On A Whim probably didn't actually drop this or anything. Also even with 21 chapters left since the series is done it's not like it's going to get any further behind.

So the original scanlation group is just being weird, nice.

No, that's not what happened at all, this guy just confused another offsite translation with the one done by occu. In fact, occu posted earlier in this thread about their reason for being late.

Some people don't post here since it got hit with the big DMCA wipe a while back, but given they posted chapters 2 months ago that doesn't seem like the cause. It seems like Ticodium uploaded the previous two chapters, weirdly they were translated by someone who did post 38/39 here but not 40/41. Occu posted in this thread saying they are still working on this project, real life just got in the way. FWIW this isn't the worst MTL I've seen, not by a long shot, but yeah I'd say On A Whim will be the definitive version and this is essentially just filling the gap until that version comes along.

For the guy who translated this, let it be known that I think personally you're fine.

If On The Whim chose to purposefully post their translations outside mangadex (possibly part of that protest a while ago where people decided they'd use Cubari for a while), they can't complain when someone from mangadex decides to pick up the manga.

Regardless of their circumstances as well, they don't own the manga. The manga is also completed so no-one is waiting on chapters to be released either.

This idea where people lay "claim" over translating a manga is as always excessive and realistically every time these things happen, the original group pops back up to lay their "claim" again.

Thank you for the chapter, and in the future I would suggest you start with the missing chapters that were not uploaded to mangadex. Even if they were translated somewhere else and yes, if you had posted them they would have immediately posted theirs too. That's just how translation is.

Maybe I'm just too employed with real things to worry about but this pearl clutching is insane to me. Its one thing if the person sniping is cluttering the page with shitty scans with a day or two of difference between uploads, its another to post an update after 2 or more months without an update from the original group.

If one group is regularly updating with high quality stuff then fair, let em have their "claim". If there is a large gap dont be too shocked someone else decided to fill it. I for one am thankful the dude decided to go through the trouble of trabslating it even if he had to use AI or whatever
