Apart from it was done for entirely selfish reasons, they wanted to enhance their reputation without knowing anything about anything.

Yeah, in a guild where trust is paramount, this would get her canned because she's shown that she can't be trusted at all.

This is a heart-warming story, though, so probably nothing will come of it.

That's an unusually severe and specific topic for this series. Right after a chapter about swings and a jungle gym.
The punishment for 'heresy' sounds pretty lax, it's not like they use any of the town's facilities outside of the guild. And basically anyone friendly is already a heretic in secret.
