Here is the thing. For what others have commented in the past, it seems also of this author apparently choosing the most over dramatic outcomes because not having a character finally grow and get the reins of their life is something he likes.
His characters do grow and take life's reins when the story is wrapping up, so I wouldn't worry too much about your scenario coming to pass*. The cycle of pain can last a while though.

*: In a multiroute format he can have different characters grow more in different endings, and even some bad ends. I don't think he'll pick a bad end when he only gets one, though.

is the thought that this is urged by Hikari instead of being his own decision.
I'm just following that line of reasoning one more step, which is why Yuu would agree to doing what Hikari wants, which is either it's b/c it's what Yuu wants or b/c Yuu thinks this is Hikari closing him off. I think sending him off to his ex can read similar to setting him up w/ other girls.

which would be about "saving her" rather than getting them back together anyway

Yeah so this where the root of the mess is - if Yuu wanted/thought he had a shot w/ Hikari, he could have offered Aya a platonic rescue. I don't think Hikari intended to get them back together, but it looks like that's how Yuu took it.

also includes being able to make the choice he needs to make then okay, he is not completely honest.
Is more that he's now confessed to both of them while his feelings are still fuzzy, which yeah he should make a choice before trying to get w/ one of them.

Oh boy, here we go again... everyone trying to help the deranged woman, she doesn't accept any help and people end up getting in danger due to her attidute (all topped of with a tint of NTR here and there)... ah, and it seems there's another drama on the way too... can't wait...

The author is just going into circles again and again and the characters are now forced to help a girl that clearly doesn't really care about any of them (besides the NTR aspect of the whole drama where she wants to be helped, which in her mind means fucked, by the male character of this story), and all this is done in a way that feels totally unrealistic and frankly it's not even that interesting anymore storywise (we know the way the author set these characters, we know how they act or are forced to act around that girl, the only different thing could be the new drama/shocking moment that the author will came up with later in the story, but at this point we all know how this dynamic between the three of them works, so there is not that much to tell anymore).

I guess the only guys still interested in this story are:

-the girls/boys with a personality/way of acting similar at least in a way to our deranged plot device of this story, in this first case these guys just want to continue to cheer for her, no matter whatever shitty action she will continue to take because it's a reflection of their shitty personality and their way to act in the real world;

-those people who are into NTR scenarios or cheap dramas, waiting for a resolution that will only happen when the author will get bored of repeating the same story over and over again.
I only read this because i want to see the end of this car crash and cannot stop watching it burn

But I did like douki chan😔
You can like it, I did. But it was just gooner shit, even calling it a manga in the modern sense it's stretching the meaning given it was mostly illustrations joined with some panels here and there.

As much as we clown on this series, this has much more to it.

Fuck all this noise. Go long and go hard Hikari, drag Aya back and introduce her to Yuu's family while making a grand exit asking not to be involved ever again. Fuck it, bring up the love hotel arc so the family can focus on where their son is as opposed to the neighbours daughter.

I don't know, the next step in that line of reasoning for me would be different: that Yuu's heart is not 100% in it if he needs someone else's advice. Yours needs too many assumptions. Which still can be true, of course, but I don't see anything pointing to that.
I don't think Hikari intended to get them back together, but it looks like that's how Yuu took it.
Are you still talking from Yami's POV or are these your own thoughts? Because I think Yuu did that impulsively, he wasn't really considering what Hikari said or anything.

I think that's a bit of a same difference? In that what Aya isn't trusting is the motivation, and I think that loops back to why she called him scum in the previous chapter.

Yuu's - did he offer to get back together b/c it's what he wants or b/c he took Hikari sending him to his ex who he had feelings for as a rejection? I agree on it being impulsive, but like why was he willing to throw Hikari away? B/c he doesn't want her or b/c he thinks he can't have her?

I know I'm going in circles here, but the ambiguity is the core of the Yuu part of this conflict.

I hope hikari rejects Yuu after this. I want Ayami and Yuu to start dating openly and then break up with each other. Everyone should move on from each other. All three need to grow up in their own respective ways. Hikari has to learn to be less selfless, Ayami has to love herself/ independent, and Yuu has to stop being selfish and decisive

Well, no? "Yuu thinks this is Hikari closing him off, that's why he goes for Yami" and "Yuu needed Hikari's advice to go for Yami" is not the same at all.
I agree on it being impulsive, but like why was he willing to throw Hikari away? B/c he doesn't want her or b/c he thinks he can't have her?
Let me suggest a third option: he thinks Yami needs him more. He can't choose and doesn't want to choose, but feels like Yami is the one who needs to be saved, while Hikari will endure even without him (see chapter 43).

"Yuu thinks this is Hikari closing him off, that's why he goes for Yami" and "Yuu needed Hikari's advice to go for Yami" is not the same at all.
Aya asks Yuu about the latter straight off the bat and seems to believe his denial, but also what I meant by same difference was again, the step back - how does Yuu read Hikari giving him permission to go save Aya.

He can't choose and doesn't want to choose, but feels like Yami is the one who needs to be saved, while Hikari will endure even without him
So I actually totally agree w/ this, but this is also a rehash of their initial meeting: Hikari is amazing and out of reach and Aya has wounds he can lick. But also this is the choice Aya called him scum for making b/c it's not one driven by want.

did the dumpster fire stop burning yet or is the manga still not about childhood friend winning

p.10 "watching" should be "matching" I guess

So, Hikari went looking for Aya, huh

how does Yuu read Hikari giving him permission to go save Aya.
First of all, I don't think he perceives it as a permission. She is not his parent or anything.
As for the matter, it's just as straightforward as it gets. She decided that reaching out to Yami was more important than her own jealousy.
a rehash of their initial meeting: Hikari is amazing and out of reach and Aya has wounds he can lick
It's not. "Hikari suffered but she is mentally strong and she has a lot of friends, she will be fine. Yami broke down and she seemingly has no one to support her."
Hikari is clearly not out of reach, she made it obvious in chapter 47 by holding his hand at the end.
But also this is the choice Aya called him scum for making b/c it's not one driven by want.
She called him scum because he admitted he had feelings for both of them, that's it.

She is not his parent or anything.
But she is the girl he just confessed to, and she's saying it's okay for him to go save his ex who he just told her he also likes, w/o saying anything about her own feelings for him. Hikari very specifically doesn't clue in Yuu to her jealousy. We the reader know she's a mess but she's very much trying to not let Yuu see it.

she made it obvious in chapter 47 by holding his hand at the end
That's about forgiveness and friendship - he even calls her manly for doing so.

She called him scum because he admitted he had feelings for both of them, that's it.
"Hikari is the one you liked all along" is a pretty clear statement that Aya thinks Hikari is the one he liked(loved) while dating her and that's what makes him scum.

ETA: what I mean is that there's nothing scummy about liking two people equally and going w/ the one who's available. The scummy behavior explicitly is dating someone when you're in love with someone else, that's the "stringing along" Hikari also criticizes.

Which doesn't mean he needs her permission.
Hikari very specifically doesn't clue in Yuu to her jealousy.
Their dialogue gets very heated, she demands he talks about it, everything about it screams jealousy.

That's about forgiveness and friendship
If it was, she wouldn't be saying stuff like "if you don't like it, you can run away". I thought it was clear she was trying to be bold there.

and that's what makes him scum.
She responds with this phrase to him saying he can't forget her, not to him agreeing that he liked Hikari all along. It can't get clearer than this.
there's nothing scummy about liking two people equally and going w/ the one who's available
This really depends on person's perception of love. I'm pretty sure that in a world of fictional romance it is scummy: one's heart not being 100% in it and still yearning for someone else.

I think endgame is strong Aya/Hikari friendship, but Hikari legit can't do anything to get Aya and Yuu back together that wouldn't feed into Aya's belief that Yuu only wants to be w/ her b/c he thinks Hikari won't have him and that's a big reason why Aya is so done w/ him.

ETA: Aya can't get Hikari and Yuu together for much the same "he's only w/ me b/c she doesn't want him" reasons, which I think Maruto wrote this tragic little knot really well.
Yep pretty much lol I just don't see a scenario where Hikari gets them together because of Aya
