Another Beruk bites the dust. Poor Suigun totally sees what's happening, but Bearche just ain't listening.

And as you can see by the montage, it doesn't look like it's going to be a brief period of time, either. This chapter creates a good solid reason for why Avan could not immediately and persistently try to find Hyunckel. It also ruins any sort of hope we might have of seeing a more in-depth back story for Baran and his fight against Velzar.

Also VJump comes with some advertisement pages for things related to Dragon Quest in general - the 40th anniversary stuff going on sale, pop-up stores, DQ12 sneak peaks, DQ10 stuff... is there any interest in seeing that?

cant Avan catch a break and when I saw baby Popp it made me a little happy despite what happend in this chapter not to mention baran and the previous dragon masters so only 4 beruks left I wonder in the future will they all be defeated

I really hope that is the case. They could save Baran's first strike on Velzar for the sequel as a flashback. I really really really hope they do a sequel when this is finished (and based on current pacing we've got maybe 2 to 4 more volumes left unless a new big bad gets introduced that takes time to flesh out).

It would make sense to just put a tiny teaser and not focus further on it to not distract from the current focus, and keeping it for later. And a full story of it has to take more than a few chapters. Heck maybe we’ll get a whole Baran prequel too before the long awaited sequel?

It would be hilarious to me to have a completely different shoujou-genre short chapter of his romance with Saola. Lots of flowers and sparkles and shalala.
